The "missing frequency" is very likely the sharp dip in the SM7Bs frequency response. This is inherent to the SM7B capsule and it showed up in all my response meaurements between 6 and 7 kHz. You should also see the behaviour with your unmodified SM7B. Great job on the design!

I've been debating whether or not to build my own U87 clone for a few months now. Comparison videos show that they are not necessarily identical since allegedly the capsule construction is incredibly influential to the sound of an actual U87, but the prospect of building my own mic just seems appealing enough of a project that I'm most likely going to do it any way lol. Great to see that works quite well. Last time I tried this project with a 30$ capsule, it had bad wires, this literally fell off, tried soldering, the heat killed the condenser diaphragm, so just a side note, replacing a condenser capsule and not a dynamic 1, might be a pure nightmare.

What I've learned is that it doesn't matter what microphone you have in this day and age and that's all because of the filters on OBS that make your Microphone sound so so good. With all those filters available, you can have a $30 mic sound like a $300 mic. Still, a very cool video. Your mic sounding so good as is without processing is purely amazing. Nice work. The USB change alone make this project very worthwhile.

Okay, quick question. Could you have just soldered some eighth inch sockets to the capsule and to the DSP and then made it so that you could swap the capsule out? That would have made it much smaller and you could swap back and forth between modules to test them and see which one you like better.

I know you can get replacement dynamic capsules from both SE Electronics and Shure. I wonder if you can do a cost effective capsule switch for the Beacn with one from an sm58 or a V7.
