Want to do light grey with white misting then put white pearl in the epoxy and mist with silver in the alcohol and very little color mostly white and white pearl on the tops for the cabinets are charcoal in color.

Is there a difference between using the spray paint and the the tint in the spray bottle? You use rust oleum spray paint, any specific kind? You can use the mettalic spray paint and your mixed tint in spray bottle...why is it you cant spray the backsplash with the alcohol, like the counter top? And I'm with you..."When to actually stop adding and playing with the pattern and colors!!" Actually, when you torch it, you can still manupilate it around a bit after...and when and at what point, must you top messing around with it? I really like your videos so much!!! You do it in a way that they are all a bit different and very unique!! I love how thorough you are and creative to all tastes!! Mike I have bought the peel bond primer and also have the concrete bonding adhesive that you recommend in one of your other videos. I will be applying bondo to create the live edge look. Counters are Formica so I think you suggest to use the concrete bonding adhesive first then apply the bondo. Should I then use the peel bond or do base color of Behr paint and primer in one then a coat of peel bond primer before epoxy process. Please advise. Your videos are great and very helpful. Just want to make sure I get the steps correct for best adhesion.

We are working on an island first to test this all out. We got a beautiful effect except for the sides! They are lumpy looking and feeling and we have applied another coat and still the same thing. Is there a video where you really go over how to do the sides? Also, so sad we used a roller to apply this top coat and it left lint ALL over the top ...last time we used a brush like you do and we had TONS of brush pieces left behind. SO, not sure what is the best way to apply the mixture and also, what should we do now? Will those lint pieces sand out?? Recap: How do you make the sides look smooth? What do you use to apply your coats? What can we do to salvage this island top that is now covered with lint? THanks so much.

@tripives18587 жыл бұрын
Mike, thank you for sharing this video. Question: there were multiple applications of the "metallics" from the spray bottles. At 15:18 you say "I'm going to take some of our gold metallic and mix some". Later, at 16:58, you use gold metallic mixed with alcohol to "fracture" the surface (which does not occur in the first spraying (at 15:18). What was the gold metallic mixed with in the first application which did not fracture the surface? Is it the same mixture with just a different application technique, or is it a different mixture? Thank you!

I want to pour your epoxy over a solid color Behr Ultra interior acrylic paint (There will be a few embedded decoupaged art prints). The laminate is primed with Zinsser BIN shellac based bonding primer. Is there a particular sheen that I should use for the final paint coat? Also, should I lightly sand the final paint coat before pouring the epoxy? If so, won't that take the sheen off the paint if it is satin or semi-gloss paint? Thanks, Ralph
@StoneCoatCountertops5 жыл бұрын
Hi Ralph thanks for watching, you really want to use Behr Premium Plus paint and primer in one due to its minimal VOC content, this makes a huge difference and is a very important step. Also check and ensure the Zinsser bonding primer has extremly low to zero VOC content, if its high then you may consider using our SCC bonding primer instead. Would using the faux concrete technique on this help the backsplash look more standardized when compared to the flat surfaces due the the nature of how you create the concrete look with spray paints rather than tinting the epoxy? Great question ddaazza. We always use a propane torch to remove air bubbles incorporated into the epoxy while mixing. A heat gun will work, but not as effectively as a torch. Artists love heat guns because of the effects achieved when hot air is blown across the epoxy. In our experience the torch pops bubbles better than the heat gun. When torching the top, keep the torch moving. Do your veins first, as they will meld the colors together. Then start to Torch the whole countertop. Make sure to Torch three times. This will pop the air bubbles and also promote self leveling.Here is a link to our favorite torch head. This is used with off the shelf small propane bottles: www.amazon.com/Bernzomatic-TS4000-Trigger-Start-Torch/dp/B00008ZA09/ref=as_sl_pc_qf_sp_asin_til?tag=stoncoatcoun-20&linkCode=w00&linkId=1079ed93ce4f9a3210140881ab1ed4ed&creativeASIN=B00008ZA09 Contact us anytime with questions or for project support.
