Thanks Tish! Start small with silicone! Just do a 4x4 or 6x6 tile. Dam off the sides so you don’t lose the details from running off, and remember layering colors can give you depth in your cells! Whether you like the outcome or not, I promise you’ll have fun watching the silicone react with the resin. Just as fun as alcohol inks!

@@JOTZdesigns thx girl, that's a great idea. I will try it on some 4x4 tiles next time I get to resin. Hopefully soon 🤞🤞🤞😁😁

Looks great! Do you get dimples on the surface when it dries when you use silcone?
@naptimecreations5 жыл бұрын
@@cheryldass9832 it does leave dimples so you just have to clean it well. The blue cloth shop rags work well and then do a flood coat. That takes care of the dimples. 🌹

Its so much informative 😁 Thanks for sharing the vedio , i have one question if we don't have this silicone oil then is there any substitute for this? Would you please assist me 😊
@JOTZdesigns8 ай бұрын
Thanks! Silicone oil is certainly unique and I haven’t come across anything that gives the same results. It’s very easy to find, though. Any hardware store/department will carry it, and it’s generally cheap. 🧡🙂 Thanks for watching!
@tanujain71338 ай бұрын
@@JOTZdesigns Thank you so much for your response ☺️☺️ I will search here in hardware shop 👍 one more question if I want to give waves cell effect so can I mix few drops with white opaque pigment and resin it will work?
@JOTZdesigns8 ай бұрын
@tanujain7133 you’re welcome! For waves, silicone oil is not the way to go. You’ll want to use a white resin paste and blow it out with a hair dryer or heat gun. I’d recommend a hair dryer, though. Heat guns apply a lot of heat and you run the chance of the resin becoming too liquidy and you lose the cells. For the pastes, I love using the whites from Le Rez (purchased through Laura’s Art Corner) and Dryer Days. You can find links and discount codes in the description. In the video I linked below, I use System Three from Amazon and there’s a link for that under the Colors section of the description of that video. Check out what I do at both 2:00 and 9:54 (separate layer) in this video and you’ll see what I mean about using a hair dryer. kzbin.info/www/bejne/fWmZgqOqmryegLcsi=KO9K8FbYRDGefynP

Can you use the silicone to make cells for ocean waves?
@JOTZdesigns3 жыл бұрын
I would actually recommend using paste made for resin for ocean waves. My favorite is Angel White from Le Rez (discount & link in video description), and using a hairdryer or heat gun to move it. You can reference this video for what I mean. kzbin.info/www/bejne/iWi0fIyjbcmAh6c

So beautiful! Does the silicone leave dips in the resin and require additional coats of resin?
@JOTZdesigns5 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Generally you will get dips when you use silicone, and need a clear coat of resin to fill them in, especially with as much as I often love using! It’s just something to be expected. The trick is how you prep it before your clear. Most of the time I add a clear layer, silicone or not, so making sure I prep it correctly for the next layer will be done anyway. You can see how I like to prep for the next layer in this clock video (I did not seal this red and green piece as I normally seal others...🤷♀️), just skip ahead to 7:12! kzbin.info/www/bejne/fXqZmmaGlLGZiMU

How do you make those "cells"/bubble effect? I've heard about gently and randomly pooring isopropyl alcohol. Would that work?
@JOTZdesigns2 жыл бұрын
I do not often use isopropyl alcohol on my resin pours. If I do, it’s mixed with mica powders, and for those effects, check out Coutertop Epoxy videos! If you mean the green center of this piece, I used silicone oil. I explain how I use it and show how I apply it starting at 6:45. Thanks for watching!
