I really like the extension. Great idea. Only has to support the mill head. Two thumbs up

Thanks, I had thought about it for some time. You could always do the same thing on the other end if you wanted another 4 feet.

I have not ordered my mill yet. Waiting for some money to get freed up so I can pay for all the things I want extra with it. Keep sawing and I'll keep watching till I get my own. ;)

Glad you got your mill all leveled back out. That’s a nice add-on you did to your bed. You did a good job On it. Yea now you can mill some little longer logs. But now that’s going to be a job turning and handling them big boys. Lol Good job keep that mill rolling along with the videos. All by the way I see that log bed is empty Man that should never happen… lol

I plan on doing the same , but an 8 foot extension , 4 foot into a sawmill head shed and the extra 4 foot to stand between the sawmill shed and the original track .

I'll be adding 2' extension, excellent idea you had there, this way I don't have to risk hitting the head to get my max cut of 10'5" (no extended track) but I want to have ease to cut a 10 or 11 feet long log. Thank you for the insight.

Very nice. I should do this on my mill. I think this would allow me to do 12 footers.

Thanks for sharing the details. I also have a track extension on my HM122. I plan to occasionally cut 20’ logs from small diameter logs so your extension idea will help keep costs down. I plan to load shorter logs toward the end of the track to reduce alignment errors.

I hear a bumping as the rollers move from your new rails to the original rails. I'll be surprised if you won't notice that on the wood you cut.

The bump is not in the height it is in the slight width difference.

Are those Woodland Jam cleats? The ones to push the log over to the metal posts? I have a different design on my 126 and I think you need more than one as standard equipment in saya 12 feet log?I have to make some.

Are you talking about the log dogs? I have two of them over a 20' length.
@kennkid9912
@kennkid9912 Жыл бұрын
@@thetennesseefrugalcraftsma7383 Yes the log dog that pushes the log against the metal outside posts. We used to call them jam cleats. Two for 2) feet of log track. Seems like too few,but I just set up my 126 and didnt get the track extension. I only want to saw up to 12Ft. 4 inches for logs. I will make an extension to get to that. I have my saw set up on a concrete slab. I had a Thomas mill and it came with three Log dogs. It had welded on metal pieces on the bunks. You pulled the stakes when you got low down on the log and those worked. You couldnt saw as low as those were..

Should say 2 log dogs for enuf track to saw a 12 foot log. The Thomas could saw a 16 or 20 foot log as the base model and came with 3 dogs as std. equipment.. I never sawed smaller than one inch at the bottom of the squared cant. If you wanted a 1/2 inch thick board, you sawed it off the cant while it was bigger. You know what I mean. I am going to make a home made extension piece like u did. To get at least 12/ 4 inches or so. I cant handle logs much bigger than 12 feet anyway. Have a good one. Wifes cousin lives near Knoxville.

My overall impression of the Woodland Mill was the track was kind of cheesy. You do have the leveling legs every so many feet to help level and support it. however. So it may be adequate. I cant believe two pieces of Angle iron are $35. each. That is a ripoff.I did see a guy attempting a big pine log on his W Mill. But I had to leave before he did it. You need quite an underpinning because all that weight will throw the mill out of kilter. A 12 foot plus track length should standard. 10 plus is too short.
@thetennesseefrugalcraftsma7383
@thetennesseefrugalcraftsma7383 2 жыл бұрын
Lowes for the angle iron and yes, it was a bit pricy. The mill will take a big log and stay level. I have had very little problems that way.

@@kennkid9912 I tried Cook's blades but they did not cut well so I went back to Woodland blades. Some have noted that there are cheaper alternatives but I have not used those. I have about 18 Woodland blades that I have resharpened.

The way you're leveling because of your 4 ft extension is not correct. Leveling should be done from center out in both directions. I'm surprised you were able to get it leveled properly.
