What is the cost difference between one of these and a stick built home?
@marlaplunk28334 жыл бұрын
That's exactly what I'm trying to find out. My guess it that these days with lumber prices raising due to COVID disruptions and high demand, it might not be much different at all, with all the benefits of using SIP panels over stick framing (in my opinion). I wish someone would compare the exact same floor plan's costs doing it both ways. Everybody always says "it's hard to say because it depends on the details". But if you compared the same floor plan, that would be at least a start. Seems easy, but I haven't found it yet.

@EnergyPanelStructures5 жыл бұрын
We are not sure of the cost of a container home, and as with any building project, there are many variables. If you are considering a building project with SIPs, we would encourage you to talk to one of our authorized builders for a complete quote.

do you sell the panels, I have done a few sip buildings and am looking to do a 3rd.
its full of thermal bridging; all installations or structural elements placed inside the panels will lower insulation locally; mixing structure, instalations and insulation all together is a bad design

MhUser Where did you get your information?
@MhUser4 жыл бұрын
@@ictrains9731 this clips shows it clearly; its obvious that when you place a structural/wooden element inside a space that should contain insulation you create a thermal bridge; same happens with electrical, septic and other installations

@@robertbrandywine you make a construction layer with installations and insulate it from the outside; insulate under the slab; insulate over rafters; insulation is continuous and uniform
@marlaplunk28334 жыл бұрын
@@MhUser So, a conventional stud wall with studs every 16" has thermal bridging every 16 inches. These walls have them on each end of the panels, which could span at least 8 feet. I'm not great at math, but the SIP panels seem to have mathematically much more efficiency of thermal bridging than conventional stud walls.
