Maintenance tip:The problem is that inside the PiezoFilm there is a specific resistance that the type of ink.For example solvent resistance tfp printhead is different than the waterbase printhead for subli/pigments/and various aqua inks.I want to tell you that the recover maintenance has different effect because of the ink type you use.Also do not forget that:Epson does not recomment the flash procedure in order of course to sell printheads.The ink selector is also good to clean or change after cleaning the printhead.Service program also is important to set up the head rank id for better perfomance-it corrects the voltage in order to work more stable with correct khz cycle.(important).

I just did this on a P7000, which looks the same but definitely isn't exactly the same. I have nothing against the author of the video. It was great to see how to get to the print head and what to do. Having said that, I wish bodily harm on the engineer who designed the assembly. I had 8 screws to remove, and then the fun began. The outer assembly is also tethered by wires on the right hand side, so I couldn't just swing it out of the way. Had to suspend it above like I would a brake caliper. This makes it difficult to get to the top screws of the print head, but I got them out. I had the syringe and a cup, but also needed a small piece of tubing to connect the syringe to the nozzle. When you're flushing fluid back through the head, remember to pull the syringe back a bit before you remove it, or the pressure makes the fluid go everywhere. Once it was time to reassemble, remember to connect the ribbon cables before putting the print head back in, and a pair of needle nose pliers helped me get them in. I could not get the top right screw into the print head and you're a better man than me if you can. :) Somehow I got all 8 outer screws back in. Fired it up, did a heavy cleaning, and a nozzle check. Green and LC are still clogged, so must be something in the lines. Either way, told my boss we'll need a new one once the quality gets bad enough, as the print head is about 3/4 the cost of a new machine. Just glad I survived. Best of luck out there!

There are more then 5 screws (at least in my 7900!) A couple were "hidden" under some "flaps".

Thanks for your video! My Epson 9900 prints correctly in color, but when I print in B&W it prints in brown magenta tone. Epson's authorized service technician checked the printer through software and mechanically; we changed all the original black inks (Photo Black, Matte Black, Light Black and Light Light Light Black), but I still have the same problem, could you please tell me what could be the cause and how can I solve it? Felipe, I have a question about the screw that you are calling screw number 3 in this video. When I look for this screw I see two screws right next to each other. Hi, I have Epson Stylus Pro 7900. Because clogged orange and green color, (same as my sister and same printer, ! this is interesting ) I remove printhead, and try clean it. Before cleaning test work without problem only green and orange channel missing. Cleaning was difficult, clogged was also channel when connecting ink cartridge - on back printer, where is some plate with "ink connector" Also I clean all tubes, and dampers on head. After it I look to head, orange and green channel was clogged, any chance to put in clean solution, then I disassembly printhead, where is two screws and can clean "connector" was also clogged and I see that orange and green was dry , clogged. Because cleaning was not possible only to put head in solution I put it to ultrasonic cleaner, only after it channels slowly cleaned. Now head is full clean. BUT, trouble, when I mout all , fill tubes , dampers with ink, printer break with error 1A39 :( By the way it happens me everytime, after clean epson printhead :(. Any advice to this error ? In service manual is problem with printhead by bad connection in align or bad circuit on printhead. Is some solution to measure resistance on printhead connector and some trick to disable short circuit or some else to run printer ? Now printer is a pile of scrap metal :( New printhead is overly expensive and , please some advice to my mail [e-mail], many thanks

I've always said if you have to put that much effort to take something off to clean it, you might as well replace that component. In short, if you have to put in that much work to take out the printhead, might as well replace it.

The cost of the print head of this outdated is half the cost of a whole new printer. This video ably describes a great " here goes nothing" thing to do on a printer that was going to be discarded otherwise.

Thanks for this video I have done the cleaning as you instructed, pulled the solution from the top and then pushed back in to the cup. Reassembled the everything back into machine and machine started back up correctly without any error messages. The only issue I'm having is I tried to print a photo after doing a cleaning and I'm not getting any printing at all nothing, done a nozzle check doesn't print anything. Can you please advise on this matter?
