Hi Keith, I’ve watched a couple of your videos relating to the Epson T series printers and they have been really informative. If you don’t mind you maybe able to advise me? I’m looking for a printer that is suitable for 300lb or 640 gsm paper. As far as I can tell I need a printer that has poster board pass through due to the thickness. There maybe be other options but I’m not sure. Print quality isn’t a key factor as I want it for purely illustrative work. Paper weight and lower cost are my primary factors. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks and keep up the good work.

Hi Keith, just found your channel and very glad I did. I am at present an amateur landscape photographer looking to print and perhaps sell my images. I have never tried printing myself but very keen to get going. Would you recommend the P900 over the Canon pro 1000 or visa versa? I am sure I should start with something smaller but I don't want to buy twice and ideally want something that I won't outgrow over time. Print wise, I will be printing perhaps 2 or 3 A2 prints per week which is the max demand I have for sales. Very much appreciate any advice you could pass on or indeed any of your subscribers.

Hi Keith, me again. Would you say that printing on posterboard yields just as good a quality as printing on paper in the rear feeder? Did you try color?
@KeithCooper6 ай бұрын
Yes, because the poster board is the same paper surface as Epson Enhanced matte paper - which I've got a profile for. The big question is whether you want the look of Epson Enhanced matte for your print? It all comes down to the coating on the board. If I put anything sold as 'card stock' with specs measured in pounds through it, it would likely be poor.
@timothy7901106 ай бұрын
@@KeithCooper thank you, Ive only printed on Epson's Radiant white watercolor paper on the P900 before and i was happy with that, so hopefully the matte posterboard is similar to that. @@KeithCooper Actually, I plan on using 17"x48" .030 Styrene Sheets for digital printing (roughly the thickness of Poster Board) I hope to God it is successful. The printer is a big investment for me. The only thing I worry about is the printer feeding the Styrene sheets thru successfully as the printing takes place. @KeithCooper2 жыл бұрын
@@AH-vd2ln The thickness not, but does the surface accept the sorts of aqueous pigment inks used in the printer?
@AH-vd2ln2 жыл бұрын
@@KeithCooper Two weeks ago, I preformed an ink test on the styrene sheets using proper ULTRACHROME PRO10 INK . . . I did not run the sheets thru a P900. Rather, I took an ink cartridge and placed serval drops of the ink onto the sheet. Then, spread the ink around and let it "dry" for 24-36 hours. The styrene sheets did absorb the ink. Though, obviously not as good as an Certified Epson media paper. After that, I sprayed this sheet with a protective clear topcoat and left it to dry completely. The final result produced an inked media sheet which did not smear or smudge when vigorously rubbing it using a paper towel. So, the only thing I am concerned about now is "Will I have issues with ink bleeding all over the sheet as it progresses thru the printing process?" I don't believe media (or paper) ever comes into direct contact with the nozzles, or does it? What is your best guess Keith? In closing, I just want to say "Thank you SO MUCH for your reply, and your time chatting with me about this"
@KeithCooper2 жыл бұрын
@@AH-vd2ln The concern here is that there are rollers to drive the media through and also the spiky output wheels, so I'm not entirely sure nothing touches the printed surface. How can they have an enforced border on printing on any certain paper, and why would they? 7:20 There must be some sort of work around.....or, I wonder how different the print result would be if you just told the printer that it was a different type of paper of which it does not enforce a border.
@KeithCooper3 жыл бұрын
It's set in the printer driver and printer firmware. There are paper width sensors to stop overspray. It is not usually possible (or desirable) to mess with this. Frequent borderless printing can make a mess in inkjet printers, with special precautions in the design to capture ink overspray at certain sizes. Any regular use of printers to print borderless means that you need to take additional care in cleaning the insides.
