Honestly, for a FWD GTI, the EQT standard seems to be the perfect setup. Fast spooling but makes over 400whp on pump gas.

Best way to compare turbos for sure! Awesome you were able to do it. Last video I asked about a 1.8t tuning issue going lean. The acceleration fuel table was the issue! The car is so much easier to drive now! Thank you guys!

Thanks for this! Makes me wonder if I should just make the jump for a standard vortex in my 2017 A3 Quattro instead of an IS38+, which this channel originally turned me to. Pump gas 91 daily canyon carver, so not sure how bad lag would be

Oh yes standard is great upgrade over the IS380 on pump. Turbo's capable of making 70-100whp more on 91oct over stage 2 IS38 on 91oct from our experience.

@COMotorsports do you think I'd have any issues running a water/meth kit? I'm like you guys only running 91. I think it would be better than ethanol since methanol is better suited for the cold.

What’s the Garrett equivalent to the typhoon? G30 770?
@COMotorsportsАй бұрын
Although EQT has their specs backwards for their turbine wheel on their website for the Typhoon, it would be nearly identical to a G30-900.

In Brazil, we usually use E60 ~ E63. In this condition, is it ideal, with the original engine, to use the Vortex Standard or Vortex XL turbo?
@COMotorsports29 күн бұрын
Depends how much you want to push it, as you see we've made over 500whp on E40 with XL.

Great video as always. Where do you draw the line for a daily driver? What turbo is respectfully daily-able?

They're all dailyable, if octane is your limit then the standard packs a punch especially in an AWD car.

Those are awesome power figures for the 2.0! Something I've been interested in is if anyone has tried a compound setup on one of these. I know it's more common in the diesel tuning world, but if someone could figure out a way to package that into a Golf, that would be insane.
@COMotorsportsАй бұрын
@@jameshaulenbeek5931 my question to you would be, what are you trying to accomplish?
@jameshaulenbeek5931Ай бұрын
@COMotorsports I'd be interested to see if the same low-mid performance could be had with equally high or better top end. I'm sure an engine swap would be easier - I5/VR6, but it's the curiosity more than anything, the concept.
@COMotorsportsАй бұрын
@@jameshaulenbeek5931 With compound you can basically just make either more power, or a broader power band. These engines like boost so with that we can run smaller turbo's harder to make them spool quick and still make good power throughout the power band. Turbo tech has come a long way so compounds are becoming less and less needed, only unique situations require the effort.

Not to kill the MK7 vibe, but your channel I think is only one that does MK6 content, but I haven’t come across any of your videos (maybe I’m wrong) on the upgrades needed for the fuel system. I watch the boss 500 video but I don’t think you touched on details the requirement for the fuel system (pumps, injectors etc)
@COMotorsportsАй бұрын
Because the fueling options are trash in those cars and none of the options are great for real power. Which is why you don't see it. The one we're currently working on we've replaced most of the stupid fueling hurdles in it and put stand-alone on it. Most don't want to deal with the cost of that.
@PongBreadАй бұрын
Ok. Understood. Thanks for your reply. I recently bought an MK6 GTI as introduction into the VAG/eruo market, but it seems the MK7 platform has more options when it comes to mods and power gains.

@@Mk5lyfstyle Doesn't scare me, do it a lot, But 600whp goals (which is the new 300whp)... is not an easy task for fueling on a Gen1/2 TSI engine. Methanol and stock injectors aren't getting you there.
