Equality of opportunity is when everyone have the right to make and upload their videos on youtube. Their views will depend on their content. But equality of outcome is no matter what you are uploading youtube will give you same number of views as other creaters. How was my example??😁

Yep your example perfectly describes something that does not happen. Could you also tell us about spider babies? I believe they have the head of a human baby but the body of a large spider. OMG!!!! Thank you, YES!!! Equality of outcome impacts freedom of choice. If you force a workforce distribution to be equal 50 50, you will always be forcing someone to do something that they don't want to, or forcing someone to give up something that they don't want to.

One of the biggest reasons for the pay difference between men and women is scalability. Women tend to prefer to work with people, like a nurse for example. Men prefer to work with things, let's use software developers as an example. As a nurse, you can only help so many people over a given time. But as a software developer, your work can simultaneously impact the lives of millions around the globe. The more lives you impact the more income you generate the more money you make.

"Equal opportunity” laws and policies require that individuals be judged on their qualifications as individuals, without regard to race, sex, age, etc. “Affirmative action” requires that they be judged with regard to such group membership, receiving preferential or compensatory treatment in some cases to achieve a more proportional “representation” in various institutions and occupations.

What about "Unequal opportunity" when you see that the name of the applicant is Tyrone and you assume a stereotype and not hire her. Or when you could not buy a house or make a business in a area because the bank would not loan to black people, going to rent only arias, and now your grandchild is offered a scholarship because an affirmative action program and a way to finally brake the cycle but some people say this is unfair because all people should be equal and redlining ended in the 74' (50 years ago).

Imagine if every NFL team were told, at the beginning of the season, that all teams were going to be given a record of 8-8, every player will receive the same salary, and every team will get a Super Bowl trophy. Now, in your head, imagine the utter decrease in effort that would be put forth by the players. Who the hell would risk getting injured knowing that they would receive the same result at the end of the season. Imagine how this would completely “DESTROY” the NFL and its excellence. Another example... Imagine at the beginning of the school year, the teachers at one school tells all their students that there will no longer be A’s B’s or F’s, etc. every student will get a C+ average at the end of the year. Could you eventually see the effort amongst the students decline drastically? Could you understand that this would eventually cause the reputation and stature of the school to become an utter failure? If you hated a school, this would be the sure fire way to destroy that school. If you hated the NFL , this would be a sure fire way to destroy the league. If you truly hated America and wanted to destroy it from within .... well you get my drift. WAKE UP you dimwits!

Believing equality of opportunity is in any way different from equality of outcome is a fallacy. When someone proposes equality of opportunity we think only of future outcomes. When someone proposes equalitly of outcome we think only of future outcomes. In both cases we ignore the fact that equality of opportunity encompases the imposition of equality of outcome upon the immediately prior outcome as well as all prior outcomes. We thereby judge all prior outcomes in history as failures of providing equality of opportunity thereby reducing the basis of judgments of justice, to equality and nothing else. Justice, however, is much better than equality. Equality of outcomes or opportunities is more comprehensive than justice and thereby encompasses injustice.

There should only be one equality, that is equality of the law. The law of poker for example, everyone has to follow the same rule. Or the game of monopoly, the rule of the game is fair, everyone follow it, people are happy playing. When the rule of the system is rigged, everyone suffered. You see, it's not about opportunity or out come. People are stupid keep on fighting for opportunity or outcome, instead, they should fighting for equal treatment of the law. Regardless of which system you live under, if the rule is rigged, society will find people become unproductive.

Equity is like sending a track team to the Olympics which the faster runners were no more likely to be picked than the slower runners, or African American fighter pilots being restricted from fighting in WW2 in order to give more opportunities to white pilots who weren't as competent in flying planes, or restricting Jewish physicists from working in Germany in order to give non-Jews more university jobs in atomic physics. Being out of touch with reality no matter who you want to help be successful is not good for anybody's outcome because it hurts the whole team from being successful.

I think the problem we face, in any debate that in some way discusses equality of opportunity or equality of outcome, is that equality of opportunity does not exist. In your example: Yes, the students had the same teachers, the same lectures. But what if a student is sick for half a year? That student will have to put in a lot more effort to achieve the same as a student who was able to attend regularly. What about a student whose family member died the day prior to the test? He will be distracted and will likely achieve a bad grade. What about students who have (medically recognized) learning disabilities? They will have to put in a lot more effort as well. Students going through breaks ups? Student who lack metacognitive skills to regulate their own learning? I can go on for hours like this. Equality of opportunity does not exist, and we can't always assume that it's the choices a person made that led them to where they are in life.

But was given preferential treatment because of a perceived disadvantage to become a doctor. True equality of opportunity and outcome may or may not exist. There are many unpredictable variables with each situation. However, it doesn’t justify not having the best person filling the role. Ah but people do not have an equality of opportunity in a capitalist society. A few people have massive head starts by being born to billionaire parents, get all the schooling in the world, get all the business opportunities in the world, and succeed because of that. Meanwhile another person will be born to a family that doesn’t have a cent to their name. This baby if subject to the right advantages could just as easily succeed as baby one. But because they were born to a very poor family, they do not get access to good education, they get no business opportunities, (this could be because of lack of education and the poor area not having any opportunities and the family not being able to afford to move) and because of these factors, this person grows up to be poor and uneducated and unable to get a job good enough to live off of or maybe no job at all. This is what capitalists call equality of opportunity. Even though these people objectively have extremely different opportunities. This causes a vast gap of wealth inequality which has nothing to do with the individual merit of these two people. And everything to do with the resources they were given due to the circumstances they were born into. I want an actual meritocracy. I actually want real equality of opportunity. I want everyone to be born with the resources to get a good education and to peruse their passions. I think this system would be a truly merit based one. How far someone gets is no longer based on historic wealth gathered by dubious means and would now allow all people to go out and truly give their value to society rather then having all of their energy devoted to being a wage slave working excessive hours a day just to make enough to continue to have a roof over their head, not leaving any time for perusing passions and working on things that could actually positively impact the world rather then just working to continue living while the owner steals all the surplus value you make further cementing your position as a wage slave. So yes, I agree that equality of outcome is bad. What we don’t agree on is that equality of opportunity is good. I actually think equality of opportunity is good. You just pretend to.

@@georgiomouawad4329 No one should be born poor in the first place. We have more then enough wealth to spread around to make everyone well off. Instead, it’s all hoarded at the top for a few people to get ridiculously and disgustingly rich while letting billions of innocent people go hungry and struggle through no fault of their own. If you are born unlucky and work your way up, that is admirable, but there are plenty of people who were born in a similar position who have worked just as hard, if not harder and got no where. Getting rich isn’t about hard work. It’s about manipulating the system to your own ends. And those ends generally involve stepping on other people to climb further up the ladder. Meanwhile some people are born with elevators. The ladder should be dismantled. I believe in a meritocracy. I don’t think your lot in life should be determined by the luck of who your parents are. I think everybody should be given the means to peruse their passions and work with the fullest extent of education resources they need to achieve that. This would be a true meritocracy. There have been an uncountable amount of people who would have changed the world in great way, invented new technology, medicine, art, all sorts of things, that have only been hampered by being born poor. This needs to change, and it can. I don’t believe in equality of outcome. I believe in equality of opportunity. And in order to get equality of opportunity people have to start in the same place, with the resources at their disposal to actually be able to achieve their dreams.

Equal pay? Why chicks can't do most of the same work as a man. When a chick at works asks me to help her say move something I always say "why? equal pay equal work"

Just today I got this pallet that needs to be moved into this ladies department. I told her to come get it. She told me to bring it over. Equal pay equal work. Blah blah blah..... Oh she's seven months pregnant. I didn't get her pregnant. So what's that mean? She don't have to do equal work for 9 months? When can I take it easy for nine months and still get paid equally?

This video is a cute distraction from the actual problem! Here's a true life example of the actual race problem in employment. A Black man (me) applied for a skilled position as a service technician. He meets all education and experience requirements of the position. All the applicants had to take a required competitive examination on ELECTROMECHANICAL TECHNOLOGY. The Black man scored 97% on the test to make the number one highest score. THREE white males with LOWER test scores are hired. The Black man who made the top test score was NOT hired! THAT'S THE REAL PROBLEM! FORGET THE REST!

What if someone is smarter than another person and makes more money? Is someone less equal? Leftists have a real conundrum on their hands? Do we all get the same grades?

Equal outcome means you force minds to choose professions because there needs to be equal outcome in those professions, problem is, it's only against straight white males. Equal opportunity means you allow ALL individuals of ALL identities to choose their profession based on what they want to spend their life doing, and based on if they like field work vs time at home. Women don't like hard labor, that's a given fact. Men do, thats also a given fact. Teachers are dominated by females. Quota's are a problem because in promotions, you end up giving people promotional priority based on gender or color vs qualifications. It's a serious problem and the snowflakes in the modern society absolutely hate it when this exact argument gets made because it tears their argument apart.
