I'm quite confident once I get cantering, but the pony I usually ride is horrible for transitions at the moment because he's still building up muscle and trying to find a proper footing in the arena lol. He LOVES the field though and seems to have no problem cantering off over cross country XD. he just hates the arena and prefers to be outside i guess. I loved the video too. That coffee shop looked so nice. Can't wait for the cross country video! x

How do you prevent a horse from bolting in small spaces? Like in the forest because that is when my pony usually bolts so I don't hack her a lot which I know is unfair. I have also applied to share ted and hope it goes well :)

ive just started horse riding and ive had 9 horse riding lessons so far and i started cantering last week and fell off quite alot and im having another lesson on monday and ill be doing more cantering so ill try these tips and see if they work! :)

Congratulations on your first few lessons! These tips are more for cantering in open spaces, so in your lessons, be sure to listen to your instructor and you'll get there! Once you get the hang of it there'll be no stopping you. Well done on getting back on even when you fall off - that's half the battle.

This is really useful, thank you. My horse can be a bit joggy whilst in open spaces and I haven't cantered with her before so we're working in walk and trot until we're ready. We do follow a friend and their horse which definitely helps my confidence whilst out!
