Hi Rhiannon and all her followers..... Ted’s owners here.... we just want to say hi and express how much we love Rhiannon and how grateful we are for the way she she cares for Ted. Rhiannon is correct in saying hold out for the right share horse or the right sharer. We have been waiting a very long time to find someone like Rhiannon. We are very lucky to have found her and likewise, knew immediately it was Rhiannon we wanted to share Ted with. Listen to the advice she gives you all, she’s absolutely correct in everything she says, communication and respect is key in both parties. xx

I try show them I’m responsible enough because I go out to my mums friends horses every day rain or shine but sadly they can’t be ridden (one is a miniature Shetland, the other is 29) it’s so annoying but likes yours, my parents say it’s to expensive sadly.

@@RidingWithRhi Usually you have to pay for board/livery and we don't really have very many "DIY" livery options, so most of the time board/livery is upwards of $600/ around 500 pounds, plus the lease fee, which is about the same price as board. Btw Ted is adorable :)

Thank you very much! I had worked with horses when I was younger and had other horses I looked after, so i felt pretty confident, but if you're not sure, try to find a share at either: a riding school, where someone else is always around to help / pick up any mistakes you make or 2) at a busy livery yard where someone is always around to help. I also found the BHS Stage 1 and 2 books really helpful for dusting off your knowledge! You don't need to do the actual courses, just reading the books can help. They can be pricey but you can get second hand ones on Amazon etc. X

I'm thinking of loaning from my riding school. There's a gelding who I get on really well with, and he's a lovely ride. I've been riding 8 years and my trainer suggests that I'm ready. The only issue is the cost. It costs £375 pounds for three months. This includes riding, mucking out, cleaning tack, turning in, turning out and more. Should I look for another option? x

Hi Rhi, this vid has been very helpful and as someone looking to share/own a pony or horse I have a few questions and that I would be blessed if any were to be answered. So as for vaccinations, would to owner be paying those types of things, or regular vet checks Ect or would it be split? You talked about "directly causing an injury" you used the example, (If you jumped a 5 bar gate It was my fault I would pay for it) as this is a very helpful example, I am wondering if you know if it were to do with the field (Eg. If you were to feed the something |by accident| and the horse happens to become sick/ injured by something you may have done accidently) Would you be paying for it/split it/or owner pay full price? How did you work out who pays for what and when? If your doing the "pay by ride" agreement, would you also be paying for vet, physio, farrier, equine dentist, feed, equipment. Would you and the owner still be splitting the costs or is it one or the other? If say the owner is on holiday, and you come down sick and cant ride or (god forbid) cant tend to the horse, what sort of thing would you end up doing? God bless you Rhi your videos are so educating and helpful and the passion for horses and your channel is truly inspiring xx (sorry if its Long or really bad written) (PS. ily and ur vids and horses)

With a full loan and a part loan, in most cases the horse would come with all tack and equipment, but with full loan it would be your responsibility to keep it in good condition, replace it as needed and return it to the owner at the end of the loan period

The average part loaning a month is £250 and it isn’t payed by rides it’s just payed monthly and unfortunately probably won’t be able to afford and I’m still a little to young to be able to get any sort of job to increase my income so how can I get a higher chance of being able to part loan?
@RidingWithRhi
@RidingWithRhi Жыл бұрын
When I say you pay per ride, I don’t mean that the cost isn’t paid monthly, I just mean it’s variable based on how many rides you have a month. If you are unable to afford a part loan, as I couldn’t as a child, your best approach is to try to find ponies that you can ride in exchange for chores or work, rather than in exchange for money. I found many ponies like that as a child and paid for my riding lessons by working at the riding school.

It can be difficult when you’re under 18. It might be easier to try and find a loan at a livery yard or a riding centre. That way, there is always someone around if you need help and the owner knows you won’t be alone. That or you’ll need to rope in a parent or guardian to help you on your riding days. @RidingWithRhi
@RidingWithRhi 2 жыл бұрын
You could try but I think it would be unlikely for two reasons: 1, most equestrians want to ride in the summer, it's better weather, students are on summer holiday etc. the second reason is that it's such a short amount of time. That said, you may find someone who is travelling for summer potentially

@RidingWithRhi
@RidingWithRhi 3 жыл бұрын
Only you can answer that! It's more about how much horse care knowledge you have and how confident a rider you are, rather than how 'long' you've been riding. You can ride for 10 years, but if you can't spot when a horse is lame or you're not confident leading them out to a field etc etc, part loaning probably isn't for you.

I've got a question! When you part loan/share, are there certain things you would need to buy for the horse?
@RidingWithRhi
@RidingWithRhi 4 жыл бұрын
Not usually no, because the owner will have already bought (and will continue to buy) everything for them. You would need to supply your own riding hat, boots, body protector or anything you wear and most owners wouldn’t mind if you wanted to spoil the horse by buying them treats or a nice headcollar or numnah etc - i’d just check first

Hey Aimee, firstly, it sounds like you’re doing the right thing by telling owners, but don’t undersell yourself either because you’re nervous. My plan would be: absolutely tell the owners you’re a little nervous and have had a break, but have owned your own in the past. I’d then have a little plan in my head of what I’m going to do on the horse: walk, a couple of stop/starts, trot, canter on each rein, perhaps a change of rein across the diagonal - anything you want, but having a little “plan” in your head will give you something to focus on and stop you worrying what the owner thinks. If they’re still put off, you’re probably just not a good fit for one another and that is completely ok too! It can take a little time to find the right horse.
