I've watched you for years and was pleasantly surprised when I saw you switch to R+ training. It was about at the same time that I discovered it and it was great having someone to watch. Esspecially since during that time, I had to unfollow a ton of people as I just didn't agree with them anymore. I got my first horse 3 months back and I've got huge plans for both of us, it's been so difficult, yet rewarding, trying to apply my theoretical R+ knowledge to practice. She gave birth to a colt only 1 month into her ownership, so that definatelly presents it's own challenges, one of the most difficult ones being that I can't lead her out. She has a lot of issues and some trauma we need to work through and I won't lie, I've been having doubts about my decisions. But seeing people like you on the internet, who have gone through the hard, transitional period and became successfull really helps. So thank you for that!

Keep the faith! It does work! Learning it and teaching it at the same time does take longer for sure. And your situation with the pregnancy and birth would be a bit more complicated (I would assume!) but it’ll come around. I always recommend getting a mentor if you’re able to! It’s a game changer ❤️

Separation anxiety can be difficult to deal with but as a positive reinforcement trainer you've got all the tools you need in your toolbox. I might have a little bit of a different opinion, but I love your videos. The only decision that I don’t agree with is getting another dog. I think you needed time to heal but if you think getting another dog was the right thing to do for you and your mental health good for you❤
@GypsyEquestrian5 ай бұрын
I could see that! For me I felt like it was perfect timing. Xena was my 24/7 companion so though it didn’t seem like a very long time in between, it felt like an eternity of being alone. I started causually looking a few weeks after Xena passed away for a puppy in foster or at the pound and thought I’d keep my eye open. When Nala popped up, I felt like it was just right. She’s got her issues but I also have a really flexible life-style I thought I could give her a second chance ❤️ She doesn’t fill the Xena void but she’s been a part of my healing and a nice little companion. I think if I had a normal job and didn’t work from home, I would have waited a lot longer!

Everyone heals in there own time.. for you it may take a year, two, three, or you may never get another dog. For her it was a month, for me, it would be the next day or that week, if I didn’t already have a second. Getting another doesn’t mean you have moved on or forgotten the other ether. It just means your healing and are ready to share your love again.
