I use this when my mare finds something a little scary. We started with a tennis ball as a target. Now I can point at something that concerns her and she will touch it.

I’ve taught my dogs clicker training. I’ve been interested in clicker training to my horses but never knew how to start. This video was very helpful!

I have the same goal, and found that Facebook “groups” about horses can be really interesting and even helpful with learning at times :-)

I recently started clicker training my mare, and I honestly don’t know why it’s such a controversial topic. My mare has responded amazingly and she’s much more engaged and willing to learn with this method than she is with anything else. With more traditional training and groundwork she gets bored and kinda goes through the motions. Edit: and for such a food oriented horse, shes not pushy with treats either.

Make us a video that tells us more about you! How did you get into horses? How many do you have? What was your first horse?

Thank you! We are getting started - what would you recommend as treats for an overweight pony? Thank you
@alainlinda50406 ай бұрын
I will definitely try that with my mare. Although, just how many treats to give (shouldn't there be a limit)?

I love this concept but not there yet with our fjord colt, as I worry he would become a problem with treat reinforcement.

Thank you for making the video! I am very interested in clicker training for horses. I don't understand why it is so controversial. People I talk to just focus on the horse getting pushy for treats but say nothing about the benefits, so I am trying to research more from people who like it. Also, this is off topic, but can you please tell me where you got the teal/turqoise halter and lead rope? I am looking for that exact color as a gift to my mother in law and cannot find it!

It's never the horse's fault if he's "disrespectful". Horses have no clue what respect is; they interact and behave in ways that are reinforcing to them. It's 100% the human's job to teach them how we want them to interact with us.

What you’re doing with the board is called shaping. You’re shaping up his behavior by reinforcing approxate responses. It’s ABA

Always start in protected contact for example over a fence. I get that you are a KZbin channel dedicated to helping people out, but having 2 weeks +R experience is DEFINITELY not a smart idea to start doing how to’s. You missed a ton in this video and because of the fact that clicker training is the most powerful way of training any animal, it can go south really fast if you aren’t teaching it correctly
