Good afternoon! The test is good! There are very few comparisons of these devices. But I would like to see a test in the ground. I read the comments and answers below, and the soils are different in their complexity, but still it would be correct to supplement the air test.

20kHz is the least sensitive of the gold frequencies on the Nox, 40kHz will pick up small gold much better, 20kHz will give a bit of extra depth on bigger gold. Overall in most instances you're better off using Multi and only dropping back to 20 or 40 if EMI is an issue. Multi will handle bad ground better than the single frequencies too.

Yeah I actually didn't realise that when testing didn't know so much about the frequencys was running on 20 as it was so much smoother in my area, so probably a fair test, but in future Multi is probably best.

@@TheSluicers yea, the multi was probably getting too much EMI, 40 would have been the better choice if it wasn't so bad with EMI, the higher the frequency the more sensitive to small gold. You're doing well with the videos, not an easy task to make videos.

The frequency for the gold monster is 45 And the equinox high is 5,10,20,40

I THINK YOU NEED TO REDO THE TEST BY PUT IN THE DIRT THAT YOU TOOK OUT OF THOSE HOLES IN THE PLASTIC BAGS THAT YOU CAN EASILY LIFT UP AND PUT THE TARGET UNDER SO IT WOULD HAVE TO GO THROUGH THE DIRT NOT JUST THE AIR DISTANCE DAVID ADAM GRENIS MAPLETON AVENUE BOULDER COLORADO USA

An air test is far more accurate as soil will vary a lot more from different soil when air is a solid baseline test as there is nothing else interfering.

Unless you put the dirt on top of the gold your test don’t mean squat , you could have done this useless test using a ruler and saved yourself digging holes 😂

Both detectors use similar frequency’s and the same technology so will respond to different dirt the same anyway, and it’s much more accurate doing an air test then a backyard dirt soil test as ground will vary an insane amount and air is a much better baseline, also using a ruler the targets would have not been in the same positions relative to the coil and would be much harder to have an exact line to swing over.

It does but only to the point of telling you iron or non iron, which on small gold is still hard to tell, the equinox has a lot more you can tell from it.

As you can see by the tests they are neck and neck, almost impossible to tell a difference, due to the equinox audio boosting it’s actually easier to here the faint targets on the Nox. So it’s a real neck and neck on the sensitivity
