The brown bottle you saw inside is called a bellows. As the oil gets hot it expands. If not for the bellows, hydraulic pressure would split the head. The rubber bottle collapses and the air inside is pushed out the tube into the atmosphere. when it cools it re- inflates. this way there is never any air space inside.If you have a tube head and can hear oil sloshing around ,that means some leaked out. Some tube heads have copper accordion type bellows. This type was almost guaranteed to leak at some point.

It's interesting that they put the anode transformer inside the head itself; on larger machines it's usually inside the electrical cabinet.

Looks like The Belmont X-ray head is much much easier to open According to Glassslingers video of him Cracking open the GE Brand. The Innards are very interesting. Just think how many years of Trial an error it took to create the first X-ray tube, to make this machine Possible

How do you remove the head from the yoke?

Doesn't the oil help cool the tube?

Looks like that transformer is pretty healthy. I'd seal it inside a small steel can...

I have a problem with X-Ray unit Siemens Heliodent MD. As you are Expert in this field I 'll be appreciated your help. I have replaced the X-Ray head from working condition X-ray unit from my friend office and installed it at the other X-ray unit which X-ray head was faulty.but after installation when it exposure X-Ray it makes noise( as you can hear in attached file) I would like to ask you does it make sense that this sound comes from the head of Xray or it should be from the body of the arm. The problem is when X-Ray exposes sometimes have good Xray and sometimes not (especially when makes louder noise) Please find attached the video that I have recorded From X-ray unit for your consideration. I ll be happy to receive your recommendation on this matter. Best Regards Max

How to create a vacuum in the hv Tank dental Xray Protable(60KV, 2mA) by vacuum?
@diecksl6 жыл бұрын
Fill it with oil (maybe with a tiny amount of space left or with the expanding cushion/bellows inside), the use a standard vacuum pump to pull a mild vacuum. You can find such a pump for cheap on eBay or ask your car garage (they use it for getting the air out of the car AC). No need for a high vacuum inside as you only want to get rid of the air bubbles between the transformer wires.

The fact that anyone can get their hands on this type of equipment is scary. No one should ever mess with this type of stuff unless they have a firm understanding of electronics, working safely, and also a proper understanding of how radiation works. This thing has enough current available to kill you. Nevermind the fact that it can produce x rays. I don't see why anyone would ever need to mess with something like this unless they just wanted to have a look at the inside, and maybe keep the tube as a display item. Don't mess with these things. I cannot stress that enough.
