I would think that it matters most at EARLY adulthood. At some age, odds are that your paper towel holder will out-live you. When you're young, it would make sense to buy something that'll last forever, so you'll never have to replace it. But, only after you get to a stable living situation, like owning a house. At the dorm/apartment stage, it's likely to get broken, lost, stolen.

Because each day we face a barrage of tiny aggravations, minute inconveniences that don't mean much on their own, but each one induces just the smallest pinprick of rage. You'd be surprised how equally tiny changes can lessen such hassles and bring lightness to one's day, and often it's done through paying attention to the mundane tasks we pay little attention to, and optimizing and improving them. Perhaps your day could be just that little bit more easy, a little less annoying, with the right paper towel holder.

I own it myself. I watched it to see if there was anything better than I got. I bought 2 paper tower holders, of which only one was good: the simple human one. I promise on my life I can do it with one hand BUT it does require some skill. You cannot just pull, you need to flick your wrist and create a cut at the top, THEN you can just pull. Elsewise, you can just pull but it requires it to be on a ledge as you have the pull it downwards to create the correct tearing force without dragging the towel holder. Anyway, I SWEAR ON ME MUM, it's a good one. I'm willing to bet it probably is the best on the market.

To all the stupid people. Especially the ones who are so ignorant they keep babbling about these vids being an advertisement. This isn't the full review. This is a quick rundown for free. @@lordgarion514 MEMBERSHIP? to WHAT?!? This is KZbin ... it's FREE. These VIDEOS are MEANT to give you EVERY SINGLE DETAIL. If they really want people to buy the items they review, then it behooves them to give every single detail. Personally, I like to see things in action before I buy. If they went THIS far, they could easily have torn off a few sheets of a full roll & nearly empty roll.

Not getting this one. The reviews on amazon have a lot of bad ones. People complained a ton about the plastic piece breaking after a couple months. Plus the skinny rod causes the paper towels to wobble. The Oxo does the same but has better reviews by far more people. I’m going with that one. Wanted this one but 2k reviews speak loud.
@latmcb98635 жыл бұрын
You're making the right choice. I had the Simple Human and the tension arm broke off after about 5 months. I replaced it with the Oxo and it is great.
@itburns57565 жыл бұрын
I looked up the Amazon reviews. Out of around 2000 reviews, it got something like 1400 five star reviews, 220 four star reviews, and 120 one star reviews, with various two and three star reviews thrown in. So it's not as if 2000 people didn't like it. Looks the thing tends to work well for a few months but after that the tension arm may break sometimes. Perhaos ATK should keep testing each item daily for several months just for this reason. I'm still sticking with my undercabinet guy.

I bought the one they recommend. It does exactly what they described. I have one issue with it that makes me not like it. Maybe it's just me. The flat wide base which is what's makes it stable so you can tear pieces off with one hand is a paper towel dust, water, and anything else that people have on their hands when reaching for the towel....collector. As soon as the roll begins to get smaller that wide base gets mucky. I'm constantly wiping it off. It's like my new hobby. Of course you can just leave it all sitting there but remember the bottom of the roll is sitting in and absorbing that muck. Gross. Apparently I have way too much time on my hands.

So does the tension arm with the stopper rubber allow you to unroll with one hand or does it hang up? I hate when they don't show it in use. I prefer to not hog up my counter space. I'm an under the counter towel holder person. The old fashion metal ones that have tension, not the plastic crappy ones. Little secret....if you do it right, you can tear it with a jerk of one hand. It takes practice but I'm sure someone with a college degree can figure it out.

On the one with the fixed post, it didn't work well because Adam was tearing down from the top, where the bar didn't reach. If he had torn up, the sheet would have separated cleanly from the roll.

I was surprised at how lousy the Oxo design is. It has a flimsy spring attached to a flimsy (plastic?) hook for the tensioner. It will fail pretty quickly. And, the stainless steel cover for the base seems to be glued on, so it's pretty much impossible to repair. [Otherwise, it would be pretty easy to fix the spring.]

It's pretty clearly marked as an equipment review. It's done the same way the equipment reviews are always done on this show. Yet commenters inexplicably complain that the whole idea is dumb and unnecessary. So why watch? Or insist it's fixed. How exactly? Prove that. It's overproduced and feels like an infomercial. Again, it's the same as the others on the show, nothing different or new. Or say Lisa should be here and ask why is Adam substituting? Lisa only demonstrates weird kitchen gadgets and only once in a while. Adam has done equipment reviews since the very beginning. Or they call Adam mean or homophobic names. Why would click on an equipment review just to insult the person doing it? What kind of person does that? Yes, I'm being preachy. If you can make silly complaints, I can be preachy.
