03:50 is a reference to Dorohedoro. An anime about a dude with a crocodile head trying to find out why he has a crocodile head. You literally just happened to pick the right one it seems, which is what happens a lot in the anime.

I didnt know they made an anime, one of my very first mangas. Considering the way you talk about it, guessing they didnt go far, it changes quite severely and becomes quite depressing quickly, a really anxiety inducing story.

Tom regularly taking damage and armor debuffs from the food levels was wild to me. The buff you get only negates the first effect of the food levels

The crocodile head is a reference to an anime (Dorohedora) where there's a bunch of "wizards". And the crocodile head guy is a wizard Hunter that's looking for the person who made his head a crocodile and it's too complicated to explain

Got pretty bored of this one really fast. Not sure if idle mechanics bore me or if it's just missing... something. But I was kind of hoping this game would have some of Despotism's management systems in the game as well. I've played so many roguelikes that all this game did really was remove some of the game (combat). It just felt like I was spamming units and going to every room: the video game. There was no challenge whatsoever in any room until the very last boss, but I felt like I had no control over the outcome. Couldn't tell if any upgade had any impact because you just throw your guys at each room regardless. Man, I dunno. Something about this game felt like a step **back** for roguelikes.

"Idle combat" games in general have that issue, it's the part of an RPG where you get stuck with a bunch of AI controlled 'teammates' that do whatever they want, but you don't even have a playable character anymore. It works better in a lane-based format or in very simple turn-based formats like Auto Pets, but even then it's usually a step down. The HoMM-like game Hero's Hour also has combat like this, and it's one of the weaker points of the game (which isn't great to begin with, sadly), but at least it's slightly alleviated by the fact that you can cast spells and can _almost_ direct your units a bit in-battle. That would really help for Despot's Game, the underlying mechanics are generally much more solid so any amount of direct player input would elevate things, but chances are they'll never do it because it'd clash with the audience's expectations of idle combat.
