Are you more interested in a career on the equity or debt side of the industry? Why?

As a capital markets analyst at a debt brokerage, definitely agree with all your points. It’s great to have exposure to a bunch of property types and business has remained pretty steady due to loans always coming due. Agree that modeling is a bit simpler, so I try to practice outside work hours to maintain a well rounded financial modeling skill set

Great video Justin. Keep grinding; your channel provides real value that 99% of these other channels don’t come close to delivering.

Starting out as an analyst in investment sales isn’t a bad place to start as well to get background on reading & interpreting leases, operating statements etc to put together investment sale models. Also do market research to help put together BOVs & OMs.

If I’m a beginner in everything does your membership course have beginner courses to start with?
@BreakIntoCRE Жыл бұрын
Absolutely - we have several 101 courses that start with the basics and assume no prior real estate or Excel knowledge. I hope this helps!

Hi Justin, I was recently laid off from my multifamily acquisitions analyst job and was wondering how hard is it to switch to a different asset type like office or industrial acquisitions, and if I should. I really did enjoy multifamily but not sure if I should limit my job search to just that or if it’s possible to return to multifamily after switching to something else
@BreakIntoCRE Жыл бұрын
So sorry to hear about the layoff, Neil! I generally recommend sticking with the product type you want to be in long-term - it can be difficult to switch asset classes later on in your career, so if you were happy working in multifamily and you already have experience in the sector, you may want to focus your job search primarily on multifamily. Good luck!

Justin Always insightful content! Actually rewatching this. Would be great if you could do a deep dive on CRE lending/mortgage brokerage roles and types of firms.

If I am 28 is too late for me to get into Real Estate Debt Brokerage? With no experience previously. Thank you.

Is it even feasible to get into any of these fields without going into debt from college?
@juanlizarazo1265 Жыл бұрын
Yeah, do all of Justin´s courses. You will be better than any college person. I just did 3 courses from Justin and can manage everything my CIO does. The rest is politics.

A 4-year degree can often be a prerequisite at many CRE firms - having technical CRE finance knowledge and financial modeling skills is necessary, but a 4-year degree can often make the job search process significantly easier, especially at bigger firms. Good luck!
