What Luka says to Abby speaks volumes of why he spiraled so badly after the Luby break up. He admitted to ruining a relationship with someone he really cared about when he came to America. He always told her despite when they weren’t together she was always someone he could count on. I believed Luka when he said Abby did not look happy with Carter and honestly I didn’t believe she was when all he ever was trying to do was fix her. Luka loved Abby so deeply and wanted her back but the timing was off until she finally became a doctor. That’s when she’d come back into his life romantically. Their love is just so deep and connection is strong.. he missed her and it shows. When Luka got Abby back he was never happier then came along Joe.

This was one of the best directed episodes of the entire series with the going back in time showing how everything unfolded in reverse.... Shout out to David Nutter for directing this master piece 👌🏾

Luka running his hand on Abby’s arm saying he misses her is so heartbreaking. You can see the pain in his eyes. He may be drunk but his ambitions are down and the truth comes out. All through this episode. He’s a tortured man who wants nothing more than to have a wife and family again. Every one of those women he bedded was a temporary replacement for Abby in season 9. Including Gillian and Sam in later seasons.

The look on Luka's face when the date wakes him up to take a phone call is great acting. Not only does he look very hungover, it seems he doesn't even recognize the woman. This is fun!

Yeah Luka was harder to love in season 9 but when Kerry ordered him to do mandatory therapy. It came out why he was self destructing so badly. i always knew why. He was depressed. He told the therapist what was eating at him. The loss of his family then coming to America he felt he ruined a relationship with someone he really cared about (Abby) then he used drinking and sex with many poor choices of partners to cope with his pain then to boot he killed a patient and almost killed a medical student in a car crash.. I felt so bad for him. I knew he was hurting. Just like In hindsight he confessed to Abby he missed her and wished they were talking more again and admitted to her he made a lot of mistakes..

@@sarcasticallyrearranged omg Sam was so immature! She yelled at Luka and threw stuff at him in trauma rooms. Luka didn’t love Sam either he loved the idea of a family and Sam always wanted it casual. They never loved each other. Luka and Abby had history and loved each other.
