My grandfather died of a brain tumor(cancer). I remember the day that he died. It was October 24, 2006. He was on a ventilator at his house, my grandma and aunt were there and sad because they felt he was almost ready to leave. I was on my way to class at college that morning and stopped by to see him. I put my hand on his shoulder and told him that I loved him. Then later that evening while I was finishing up some work at college, I got a call from my mom telling me that he had died. To this day, I still miss him.

I only ever saw one episode of ER, and unfortunately it was this one. It tore my heart from my chest, and stomped it on the ground until it was in a million pieces. Just describing it to people brings tears to my eyes. I remembered it when I had my own daughter, my own son. My father, who was not much of a father, more a best friend, died six years ago today. So much went unsaid even though we had time, but that was our relationship. I don’t have regrets, but sometimes it makes me too sad.

I'll never forget watching this episode. I was 18. It broke my heart and I remember it to this day. Years and years later one of my best friends died it was song played at her funeral was this one. This is also one of my mom's favorite songs that she played every time we went to Hawaii. It seems that this song will never leave the back of my mind. And neither will the pain and loss associated with it.
