It was the saddest death I think for a lot of fans . Dr Greene was my favorite character on the show and Anthony Edwards was my favorite actor and felt he held the show together but ER had one of the best casts for the first 8 seasons

I cannot stress this enough. Please talk to your loved ones about death, especially if you or your loved one is sick. It makes dealing with the aftermath so much easier. If my dad didn't tell us and wrote down everything he wanted done after he died, my poor mom wouldn't have known what to do. Please do this, it's so important.

People deflect in obviously difficult moments. It's awkward as hell - just like real life.

I gotta say this, mark took his dying like a man. He never once dreaded his impending death, obviously he didn't exactly jump for joy at the news of his tumor, but he didn't go through all the stages of grief, went straight into acceptance, assumed his fate knowing that he made the right choices in life and did his very best with what time he had. He died just like he lived, with DIGNITY.

My brother is an estate attorney and he has really impressed on me how important these conversations are. Yes, they are very difficult topics even for people in good health. But they are so vital. Everyone ought to talk to a lawyer. Having your affairs in order is good for you because it could save your life by ensuring that people have the legal authority to make decisions if you become incapacitated. It also ensures that your wishes are followed if things do not turn out well. But just as importantly, it's a way to love those that you care for by removing at least some of the stress that they will face in these difficult situations. My brother has had clients that have had to go to court to try to get legal authority to care for a loved one, whether it be because of mental incapacities like dementia, or physical incapacities like a coma. But because nothing was set up in advance, instead of being there and caring for their loved ones like they would like to, they had the added stress and expense of going to court. These conversations suck, but everyone should have them. And for the things that need a legal basis, talk to an estate attorney. Get everything in order. You'll never be sorry that you did.

I like how peaceful he is, how assumed he has everything, the right attitude, the right moment, the right place, maturity, stature. Take death as part of life. That is right, that is very ok. :)

My dad had 4 wks to get his affairs in order - he was diagnosed w/ stage 4 pancreatic cancer in July of 88, after reaching age 62 in just a few wks prior, and was dead by the 1st wk of August… the guy was a machine - he arranged all his affairs, taking care of his bizs, his financial obligations for my mom who had Alzheimer’s and my mentally disabled older sister, he arranged for the future sale of the family home and vacation property, along with/ sake prep repairs, he arranged his own funeral down to his grave stone and his burial suit, he put together a note and package of things he wanted each of his 7 children to have, and even arranged for his GS dog to be adopted by his good friend.. I’ve got a high standard to meet

@williamfrazier50103 жыл бұрын
Yeah. It's sad and it hard. It's also necessary. Too many people avoid it and then when the inevitable happens, there's often confusion and hard decisions to be made at a time when grief makes clear thinking very difficult. Plan ahead and keep those plans updated as your life progresses. Gives you peace of mind and eases things for those you will leave behind.

It has been said multiple times by the actor himself, he no longer wanted to play the role. And rather than fans drumming up false hope he would come back someday he asked for his character to be killed off. He knew people wouldn't let go, demand he return.

I never understood where was Dr Ross and Nurse Hathaway? they were so close during the early years, why didn't they appear at the funeral
@DarlingNikki24 жыл бұрын
It was a whole bunch of behind the scenes stuff going on with that from the time George Clooney made a surprise appearance when Carol left to go reunite with him and the NBC brass didn't know he was going to return to the show, so they were ticked. If they had known, they would have hyped the show as the return of Doug Ross and Clooney had gotten a lot of pushback about ER being the Doug Ross/George Clooney show (which it kinda was lol). Clooney felt that Doug and Carol's appearance at Mark's funeral would overshadow the purpose of the funeral--to showcase how much everyone loved, respected and cared for Mark--so said no to the idea right off and Juliana Margulies agreed. I think retrospect it would have been nice to see them visiting his grave toward the end when it would cause less controversy, but I understood the reasoning.
