The best 'medical' scene from South Park was: Oh my God! Eric! Eric, [caresses him] Mommy's here. Sweetie? [notices Dr. Doctor] Oh, what's wrong with him? I'm afraid that your son is... incredibly stupid. He thought he could fly with cardboard wings. The stupidity is so severe that it caused a fall, which has... put him into a deep coma.

Random story about appendicitis. A girl I went to summer camp with suddenly had horrible pains in her lower abdomen. The counselors ignored it, said it was probably menstrual cramps and she needed to toughen up. By the time they realized it was serious, it was almost too late. She was comatose and had to be taken to the nearest hospital by helicopter. Yes, her appendix had ruptured by that point. She nearly died. It was so long ago, but I'm still pissed at those counselors for dismissing her so easily.

Yeah, mine 'disintegrated' as the surgeon lifted it out of me. It was so full of blood and material it weighed in at almost two pounds. I'm told that is remarkable for a 13yr old boy. The anesthesiologist was also deeply concerned because I kept waking up and he had a hell of a job keeping me under. They had to swap the drug (or change the cocktail) that was keeping me knocked out because I had had enough that they couldn't legally give me more. I was awake within forty minutes of getting out of surgery. I should have been out for six hours. Turns out I have a stupidly high resistance to pain killers and sedatives.
