The constant death is what made me switch career paths from Trauma Medicine to Trauma Psych. As my professor's, most of them, have said, the ER is a battlefield, and like any battlefield, no one leaves without a few scars. Trauma doctors and Nurses have the highest rate of PTSD of all career paths, higher than military and police. The speculation is that this is because by default, most who work in this profession do so, to save lives, and the weight of those they could not save, puts a larger toll on their minds. Dr. Wagner, myself, and many others, all tend to have stories that would break people with a less resolve. Of my graduating class of 1,372 who all became nurses in 2012, only around 400 of us are still practicing. This is on the higher end of things, however the average is, if i recall correctly, that only around 50% of those go into medicine, will stay in that line of work until retirement, and around 30% will seek alternate careers within 20 years.

This episode has a lot in common with the movie "Innerspace" which was kind of like an update of "Fantastic Voyage," with an extra wrinkle and a lot more absurdity. Both, like this, deal with miniaturization, and adventures inside the human body. Of them, "Innerspace" is a LOT funnier, and contains rather more Martin Short than the other one, which is sadly lacking in that department. It's been a while since I've seen that one, so I'm not sure how much there is to comment on that strays much from the "That's definitely NOT how that works" category of reaction, but, it's still a fun evening of frivolity if nothing else. But, if you're more after something from the perspective of an ambitious neutrophil, you definitely can't go wrong with "Osmosis Jones," which contains a significant amount of Bill Murray, and a surprising amount of material that borders almost "dangerously" on the scientifically defensible, in terms of depiction of stuff.

I would like to suggest the very emotional Jurassic Bark from Futurama. A sad ending but, has a scene where the Professor sticks a probe into Fry's dog [from 1999] which had been flash 'rockised' into dolomite (I think) as he was was to extract DNA from it, in an effort to clone the dog, and found out that the dog 'Seymour' was fifteen. Beware after that a sad emotional scene and music which really pulls at the heart stings. I bring it up, if age can be found out from DNA extraction.
