Fun Fact: In the first season of Family Guy, Joe's story for becoming paralyzed is completely different than what it is now. He originally was stopping a "Grinch" like character from stealing presents from a bunch of orphans on Christmas Eve. He chased the man onto the roof, and ended up slipping and falling off the roof, paralyzing him when he hit the ground multiple floors below. The story has been changed multiple times, my theory being that he actually lost the use of his legs in an embarrassing accident, and decides to cover the story with a heroic lie to feel better about it.

I cut my right indexfinger 98% of the way through as a kid myself with only a flap of skin keepin it attached to my hand after twisting a folding knife in a piece of wood which made it fold shut. I got lucky too as my mothers work was all about traumatic hand injuries so i got both the best first aid and followup therapy possible plus my dad decided to rush to the hospital instead of waitin for the ambulance which saved precious time and the surgeon did a crackin job. Theres a lot of circumstances that play into the final results but it really makes me appreciate the dedication and skill these surgeons bring to the table.

One of the most awkward moments in my life was after providing my post-vasectomy sample. I had to hand the cup to someone in the clinic, instead of sticking it in one of those two-sided cabinet things. Ejaculating into a cup in a highly lit and almost disturbingly sterile room was unpleasant enough. Walking down a hallway and handing the cup to a guy was just weird. Then walking out through the lobby was weird. The vibe in a fertility clinic is weird. We've got people wanting to conceive and people not wanting to. People who may be anxious about IVF possibly failing. People anxious about their sterilization possibly not taking (like I was). People there to masturbate. People there to get fertilized. It just felt like such a tense situation. Even more tense than the time I visited a pediatric neurologist.

Hahaha I am totally like Joe! I have been to the ER, Inpatient and Outpatient procedures so frequently the nurses remember me. I once had a seizure, rushed to Hartford Hospital ER, and then it happened again literally 5 days later when I was seeing my Epoileptologist for my ER follow up. I had a seizure in his office WHICH is attached to the hospital! They literally called an ambulance to drive me 100 feet lol. Honestly they could have just dragged me to the ER and saved me the bill 😂. I got the same nurse, and she was like, "Nick, again?! We should get you your own private room on standby" 🤣. Some people say it's sad, but honestly I do not see it that way. I find it hilarious that they remember me and have developed some nice bonds with the people at the Ayer Neuroscience center. Seizure free over two years and they made me a Patient Ambassador since I was the first to get DBS for Intractable Epilepsy at Hartford Hospital. Any other Epileptics on here learn more from the Epilepsy Foundation website! Message me if you or know someone with seizures and is in need of help!

Interesting thing about Joe's paralysis. There's an episode earlier in the series, Joe's Walking on Air. And he gets a "leg transplant" and he can walk, but he becomes insufferable to the point his friends decide to break his legs to get the old Joe back. He promptly kicks all their butts. Then his wife shoots him several times, trying to hit a specific place but she's a bad shot, and eventually Joe just tells her to give him the gun and he'll do it himself. Then he shoots himself in the spine and is paralyzed again. So the original incident was damage to his legs, but technically the latest one was spinal.
