A 65 year old man and theses scenes and music from ER still brings tears to my eyes. The sadist and the greatest episode ER had in there 15 years. in there special at series end Alex Kingston (Dr. Elizabeth Corday) said that it was so moving to make she could barely make through it without crying. It does have to be one of the very sadist episodes in TV show history. extremely well written and produced. The added touch was Somewhere Over The Rainbow was a great song to use as he is dead and seeing Rachal and Elisabeth with there baby on the beach and the walking through the empty ER. The late Michael Crichton clearly produced his masterpeice

Completely agree. I just realized during my current rewatch that they used this music again in season 10 episode 1 when Carter returns from the Congo, which felt like an interesting choice. On-point too, since it symbolized the end of yet another key chapter for him.

This theme was Mark Greene's theme, and it became Carter's theme. Used in the funeral scene, season 9 episode 1 (Elizabeth Corday in the UK, sold her house and reflected, and at the end of the episode when she moved back to Chicago), season 10 episode 1, when Carter comes back from Africa, and in a conversation with Kem in Chicago(can't remember which episode). Greene passed the torch in more ways than one.

I have the whole 15 season set of ER and watch it every 12-18 months. No matter how many times I watch The Letter or At the Beach, I always cry ugly. Definitely the saddest moment in TV drama history! 😭😭😭

I always wondered why Doug and Carol weren't there for Mark's funeral.
@PGO_Gaming3 жыл бұрын
I believe Clooney spoke on this subject in an interview. He felt that if he had come back for the funeral, the fact that he had come back to the show, albeit for a cameo, would have overshadowed the moment. This was Mark Greene's episode. He didn't want to ruin it.

@@andrewgordon5016 thank you for pulling out what you could. Someone in an ER group on Facebook found this and shared it. I have noticed it at various times when characters are leaving. Although it took me years to notice. You can hear it later when neela is in Louisiana for example

pamelajaye No problem. The two scenes I pieced this together from was Mark Greene’s funeral (obviously) and from the start of the season 10 premiere when Carter returns from Africa and Abby asks him for her key back.
