You get to see first hand how ugly and brutal it truly was. Also, due to how tonally different the first game is, the way in which John describes his past with Bill, Javier and Dutch sounds much darker as well.

I absolutely enjoy how you have the opportunity to experience these two games back to back, and see things come full circle - the prequel vibes of RDR2 and how that fed off of what was being established in this title. I'm pretty sure a lot of us had our own individual head canon re: John and his past with the gang since RDR2 wasn't so much of a thought in the early 2010's.
@user-jt1js5mr3f11 ай бұрын

15:8:43 West Elizabeth is off limits during this part of the game so you're unable to travel to Great Plains, Tall Trees, and of course Blackwater. This was something the GTA did for story reactions where other parts of the maps were blocked off until you progressed more into the story. Mostly bridges being blocked off and if you were able to get beyond the bridge then you'd get a max star wanted level. For RDR1 you simply cannot cross as John can't swim :( 1:58:21 Oh yeah Thieves' Landing saw major development between RDR2 and RDR1. In RDR2 it was nothing more than a single building beside a warehouse that was used mostly from gangs to dock and load off stolen goods. Now it's a full on settlement with no law.

Oh come on now. We gotta be a little mean to you. 😆 During the confrontation with Bill you mentioned this was the first time hearing about Dutch. Its actually the second time. During your first encounter at the fort Bill shouts "now I'm in charge! No more Dutch...and no more you." Then you get shot. But yeah since you are coming in from playing the second game you know the backstory. But for us who played this long before RDR2 it was fun piecing together the backstory the best we could imagine it. About as much as I can say thus far on that. Also, now that you've heard about John's daughter there was a funny moment during the making of RDR2 where the actor who plays John in both asked the studio what really happened to John's daughter? They simply said "she died." So it's a mystery but there is dialog after you finish RDR2 where you see Abigail knitting something and she says (if i remember correctly) it's a surprise. That's the hunt that she is pregnant at the end of RDR2 (1907) but the daughter dies in between that and the beginning of RDR1 (1911).
