Nalilito na ako ng mga panahon na iyon dahil hindi ko na mawari kung ano ba ako. Dahil kung may attraction akong na feel sa Bestie ko sa ibang lalaki ay hindi parin mawala. Gusto ko na sanang mag shift into a man at handa akong magbago para sa kanya pero hindi ko pa rin maiwasan ang magkagusto sa lalaki. Gusto ko ring ipagtapat sa kanya na nagkakaguasto ako sa kanya pero natakot ako, not only for the rejection,pero dahil narin nadidiri ako sa sitwasyon ko. Nadidiri ako sa sarili ko dahil nagkakagusto ako sa babae kong bestfriend pero naaatract parin ako sa lalaki. Ayaw ko kasi na kapag kami na ay bakla parin ang aking damdamin gusto ko na maging totoong lalaki ako kapag kami na. Nandidiri kasi akong isipin ang sitwasyon na kaagaw ng girlfriend ko ay lalaki at hindi babae. Kaya yun ang dahilan bakit hindi ko masabi sa kanya na gusto ko siya. Pero ngayon, may boyfriend na siya at malapit na silang ikasal. Oo nagsisisi ako pero hindi dahil sa pagiging torpe ko kung hindi dahil takot akong maging kami na bakla parin ako. Nasasaktan ako na hindi siya magiging akin habang buhay. Triny ko naman lahat para maging totally lalaki na talaga ako pero mahirap. Gusto ko maging tunay na lalaki para sa kanya pero nangingibabaw parin ang kabaklaan ko. Ayun, sa kasalukuyan umiiyak ako dahil sa sakit na nararamdaman ko. Na sana lalaki na lang ako na tunay at hindi nalang ako naging bakla. Saklap.

Explanation of the song for non-Filipino speakers: The song begins with the singer recalling their childhood. The girl was beautiful and he says she resembled the celebrity Paraluman. The girl taught him to dance Boogie, Cha-cha, to name a few, but her favorite was El Bimbo. He said he was too young to understand but he was in love with the girl. His memories of them together are magical and her presence made the world simply better. He grew up with his feelings and he regrets that he never told her how he felt. Years passed, and they lost contact somehow. (Perhaps they are from the province and the girl moved to Manila, our capital). He received news that she is already with child but with no spouse and she was employed as a dishwasher. One fateful night she met her untimely end after being run over in a vehicular accident at a poorly lit street. The singer's hopes and dreams with her are completely obliterated. He will now only be ever to dance with her in his dreams.

Bagama't sinabi ni Ely na tungkol ito sa crush niya noon, may parte ng music video na pinutol sa bandang dulo kung saan may bumangon na babae sa libingan. This was the last song I heard when I left the Philippines before immigrating here in the U.S. This song was played by every radio station in the Philippines. Almost 30 years later and still brings me back to where I was. It's funny the place was mention in the song sa may Ermita. We rented a hotel in Ermita, sa baba ng hotel namin merong 7/11 store and they were selling xmen comics. I remember how popular comics was back then. Talagang ang bilis ng panahon. Now I'm in my 40's, I have 3 sons and my oldest boy is 20 years old. I plan to retire back there in the Philippines soon. Ang hindi ko maintindihan bakit yong mga Pilipino nag mamigrate ayaw bumalik dyan. Ang sarapn ng buhay dyan masaya, kahit yong mga taong kunti lang ang pera masaya pa rin. Our block will be performing an adaptation of 'Ang Huling El Bimbo Musical' as a stage play this July 2024. When I was a child, I used to only imagine being part of the music video because it brings me so much nostalgia kahit hindi ako pinanganak noong 90s. TRIVIA: This song is written by Ely in just only under 5 minutes. The story is about him and his girl childhood friend. "Kamukha mo si Paraluman", he described her. Paraluman is a Filipina-German actress in the Philippines during 1930s or before WW2. Ely is always watching Paraluman's movies when he was younger. His childhood friend always teach him to dance, especially the El Bimbo dance. But one day, they didn't met anymore until this day; and he didn't know if she is still alive. The 1st & 2nd stanzas are real. The 3rd stanza is fantasy.
