I think what’s important to note is that each of those people had someone to play against. A fictional character or a more positive historical figure. The issue with booth versus Oswald is that both of them are pretty uninteresting and unsympathetic people. Even if they were both bad people that had more going on it might be okay, but it’s just two people who did a single murder and that’s both their primary thing to do.

Hitler and the other evil historical figures were used because they impacted history and the world in a clear way that's been documented well enough to matter whereas Booth and Oswald are known for one action that can't be stretched into a battle, much less be used to brag about without feeling odd considering both basically did the same thing It'd be more like equating the assassins to using mass shooters, who are certainly infamous but have no place in ERB and do not really qualify as being an actual figure who deserves a spotlight in a battle
