Erbauer 18v Circular Saw Review EXT brushless ECS18-Li

Erbauer Circular saw 18v EXT brushless saw, this video is me unboxing the Erbauer Circular saw seeing what is included in the bare unit box, I have used this saw for a good 18 plus months so I give my pros and cons to this circular saw and my thoughts weather this Erbauer saw is any good.

I bought this circular saw myself when I needed a replacement circular saw and was drawn to this particular circular saw initially because of the cost and from the fact I had used the old range version and was happy with that so when my Makita saw stopped working I thought I would give this one a go, so this review is just my opinion and thoughts on this circular saw based on using it for about 18 months I used it on materials like plastic and alloy splashbacks to soft wood fence posts and kitchen worktops to oak worktops and much more, and I have to say I was impressed. the only real issue I had with the circular saw was the trigger went faulty however as I say in the video it was within its warranty and getting a replacement was easy and quick, for me personally the warranty on this brand have so far been brilliant.
this Erbauer 18v EXT circular saw is one of Erbauer EXT range that uses a one battery system, they run a cool battery technology that is claimed to last upto 25% longer run time and can give upto 100% longer lifetime when compared to the standard Erbauer batteries.

All my cordless stuff is erbauer ...but sadly as a right handed person I'd rather have the blade on the Left side ...so unfortunately won't be getting this

@@JG-fv9bv i think from memory the older model was on the left side, i use the DeWALT one mostly at work atm due to workmates using DeWALT mainly so easier with batteries but use this one at home loads (sometimes at work), lucky for me i can use both hands kinda equally so if i need to i use it in my left hand so i can see the cut easier.

Bought one today to do worktops and splashbacks, I'm no pro just a confident d.i.y'er, Laughed to myself after I watched the vid as it took me ages to find the allen key after rummaging through the box and also had to glance over to see the saw direction as I got going. Great saw that gave a nice clean cut, not too noisy either and fairly comfortable to handle.

Ya they are nice saws I think. I use the dewalt saw as well as you'll see in my other videos and tbh this cheap Erbauer one hold up well. As you say the blade gives a half decent cut that comes with it.

I really like Erbauer stuff. I like the fact that some turn their noses up at them simply cause of 'brand prestige' I have done some serious work with their percussion drivers . They are my favourite drivers.

Some of the gear is rly good in my opinion. I do like my dewalt and makita stuff but for the money I think Erbauer has its place up there. Also most of the bits I get like drill bits or impact bits I use Erbauer brand if it's available

It dose the job, has plenty of poke and the price is good iv used it loads now over the year or so and only issue I have with it really is the trigger has to be fully squeezed in slightest relax of the hand and it stops don't know if you found that ? It's good for safety just a bit annoying at times

Erbauer to me is probably the closest competition to the quote on quote tradesman's tools ie makita, dewalt milwake... The giveaway as to why there up there is really in the small details, look at the finish of the overmoulded grips, as good as top brands.. Hardly anybody notices this but if you look the erbauer stuff has a 3rd pin on the battery connector.. This is to save the tool from aggressive use.. Most other cheaper brands will only have the 2 pin system.. This means generally that if your battery can handle the load then it will keep chugging out the power, even though your tool could be overheating or under tremendous stress.. Tool burns out.. Battery is none the wiser.. Very important feature to me.. Most of the ext stuff is breathless, always an advantage for longevity and performance.. The only downsides to me is always when they try and cram in extra features but there not implemented correctly.. Lasers are a big one.. There never accurate.. Whats the point in even bothering...

i use loads of brands some cheap some expensive but i do like the erbauer stuff, i haven't really used the drills but i have the sds and that's been going years and its had a lot of heavy use. im still using the circular saw in this video now, for the money i think its good, but to be honest doesn't matter how good or expensive a brand is if the blade is dull, nacred or just wrong for the job then its not going to cut nice imo. i dont find myself using the laser, maybe because im so used to using circular saws without lasers for years and years, but also as i would mark my cut and follow the line normally.

@@RustyDIY I agree 100%... I'm a tradesman myself and have a plethora of tools as you wont catch me getting bought into brand marketing bullshite.. Stick a decent saw blade on a parkside or einhell circular saw for example and you wouldn't complain.. It would get the job done no bother.. There all sourcing the parts from a handful of factorys, .. The only major difference from one to another is the accessories ie.. Cheap blades, cheap overmoulding and cases, cheap batteries.. You pick up a dewalt drill driver and you know you can drop it or drag it around the site.. You pick up a lidil and something will break in a few weeks.. They both are close enough on performance that you dont care, but in the long run you want to keep it around so you buy the hardier stuff.. But if you were careful or mindful of the stuff.. You could have a bag full of cheap stuff and still get the job done... I use jcbs last generation of cordless drills and they are the best ive used and im still using them.. Head to head with my previous gen makitas and it honestly outperformed them..Even my work colleague said its a fair assessment...

Ya it is a shame its not on the other side. I used the new dewalt saw the other day and thats on the left side makes it a bit easier to follow a line. The old Erbauer cordless sae was the other left side i think I got one in the garage would have to double check.

I am comfortable cutting with either hand so if I wand to see the blade I just use my left hand to hold the saw.

Im not sure I don't use one tbh I use a level and clamps normally I did a video of it on the channel. I don't actually think there is one for this specifically but I have seen universal ones in the past with an attachment that goes on the bottom of the circular saw and clips into the track.

This was a bare unit, bare meaning no battery just the unit so when you look in at tools to buy if they say 'bare unit' then it's with no charger or battery just the tool. If it is the newer range of Erbauer drills and has the EXT battery it's compatible... but it would also need to be a 18v drill for the battery to be 18v as this saw is a 18v saw.

I can't seem to find a dust bag for this. And the nozzle for the dust bag doesn't seem to have any catchment for securing the vacuum cleaner either. How's it suppose to attach to it?

I'm not actually to sure I will look online on the Erbauer Circular saw pics they show it with a hoover hose attached I think so I'd assume most work hovers would slot over the plastic angled attachment.

I had a look and I can't seem to find one atm either 😕 you can get universal adapters and dust bags that are in draw strings so should fit, but other than that I'm afraid I can't help much maybe a different brand dust bag like the makita one would fit if the bore was the same size. I will try message Erbauer see if I can get a answer.

I'm a flooring installer by trade mate. My uses are for ply, lammy basic uses. Got a stud all to knock up soon. My old corded Makita has folded. But I did buy the erbauer twin driver and impact last year and they have been great for what I do. I have a 4ah battery I guess that will be ok with the saw.. Have the corded jig which is fine. Just wondering if the 4ah battery will have enough juice.. Thanks for making the video mate.👍🏻

i run the 4ah bat in it and its fine the 5 dose seem a bit better but the good thing with this brand is the batteries are quite cheap so you can get a 5ah without braking the bank.

@@RustyDIY literally bought one before from Screwfix. 4ah was 35 nicker on a ten day sale that ends tomorrow. It's a bargain for such good gear.. I've even bought the vac too.🤣 25 quid..did the van in the cab with the 2 ah. Lasted 20 minutes. Thanks for the reply mate.👍🏻

Are Titan and Erbauer the same make rebadged? I've got loads of Titan stuff and it's good but the angle grinders and reciprocating saws have poor quality switches - they tend to lock up and stay on or won't fire up without messing around. I've recently got hold of the brush less Erbauer EXT Combi drill and impact driver kit and that is great quality but and decent but again, the switching isn't very crisp and reminds me of the Titan range. I'm coming from DeWalt which wasn't great and when things go wrong, it's costly to get a refund/fix. The last thing you want mid job is to be sorting out refund processes - you want to guys to be handing you over a brand new unit there and then so you can get on with the task. For the same reason as you, I'm now kitting up with Erbauer EXT power tools.

I dont know on if its the same kit re badged as they made the old Erbauer gear anyway And still make titan stuff now. I originally was dewalt then their radio was not as good as the makita one haha so naturally swapped to makita and love the range just expensive and I hate signing up for warranties or sending stuff of. So with the Erbauer gear I walk in screwfix and they swap it there and then or get it next day, on top of that I don't even have to hold the recipe its on their system for ages.

With the trigger on this saw I find it very high you have to keep your grip tight if you let out a bit it will cut out, seems higher than my makita and flexvolt Dewalt. But considering your looking at 3x the money for the equivalent brushless in the top brands id rather not worry about my tool getting stolen or left in the rain by accident and use the EXT range. Tools are so similar these days 10 years ago ya top brands only but now budget stuff almost as good imo unless you need a specific tool and use it everyday all day.

I don't suppose you've tried a Dewalt 20v battery on this? I've already invested in the Dewalt 20v system for my daily use tools, but for my lesser used tools the Erbauer kit would be perfect if it would take my batteries.

One point to make here. I heard one reviewer of this saw say that he swapped the blade for an Evolution one. Screwfix do sell reduction rings to allow you to do this for about £5 for a pack of 3 different sized ones. Hope this helps! :)

The saving much more than 25% if you look at the brushless makita its probably 150 quid bare unit.

It depends if you are right handed and want to see the blade then only a few saws that have the blade on the left makita is one (some of their circular saws not all) if you use a corded mains circular saw atm then its likely the blade is on the right same as this Erbauer one. But if I didnt want to save money or they were the same price (hypothetically) I'd chose the makita definitely.

@@Weakeyedominant ya mine gets abused on site and is solid tbh and as I say in the video the price and warranty is why I use them more now and I'm completely comfortable cutting with both hands so if its precise cut I use my left so I can see the blade. On theory the guide and laser show you where to go but in reality it not always the case haha. My biggest grind with this Erbauer saw it the trigger point for it to start and stop spinning is so high you have to keep your hand clenched tight if you relax a bit it can be enough to stop the blade spinning the makita has a larger working range on the trigger i think

Makita vs Erbauer would make a difference in melamine clean cuts? I am am not in the trade, just hobby user and it will be my firs circular saw.

Tbh not really it comes down to the blade for how clean a cut is. The blade that comes with this saw is a 34 tooth so cuts quick and easy but will chip the cut up a bit. A fine cutting blade would be a cleaner cut

Also the rotation of the blade you normally cut with the back side of the material facing up, that way the blade cuts into the good side and won't chip apossed to cutting through the back of the laminate face and chipping

@@russellknight8193 i am going to buy another blade, from what i understand, 48 teeth on 160, 165 mm blades are for clean cuts. Just wonder if makita would make the job better in inexperienced hands. Here it is double the price for makita.

@@anatolf1952 its hard to say however a better quality tool is normally easier to use in general. So i would say yes it would imo. The makita has a nicer trigger action and dose feel slightly easier to use.

I don't believe so unfortunately maybe there is a universal guide out there but I don't think I have seen one. 🤔 normally plunge saws have grooves in the base to slot in and some have a anti kickback lock I think.

Yes it works well I have used it since and I used it for 18 or so months before this video it was a replacement as I say at the start the trigger broke on my 1st one but with the warranty they swapped it for a new one fantastic 😀

In general not as good as makita tbh but that would be expected. Makita are fantastic brand one that I use a lot but are quite a lot more money than Erbauer. But if you are experienced with tools then you can do the same job with the Erbauer tools you just might have to nurse them a bit more for example drilling a deep hole might have to go slower and bit by bit then if you was using a makita high end drill or dewalt high end drill.

Both makita and dewalt have a entry level tool range and then a couple step up from there so really depends if you was trying to compare the entry lvl range with the EXT range or the top spec range. From my experience the Erbauer EXT range is one of the best budget/cheaper brands (excellent for DIY, handymen/womam or people only looking to use the tool every now and then) and can compete with the lower end ranges of the more professional trade brands like dewalt, makita and bosch. I use the circular saw and the sds Erbauer a lot and love them. Cheap, work well, have a good warranty, brushless, additional batteries are cheaper and are so much cheaper than the equivalent brushless tools in the other brands.

If i was using the tool all day everyday and it was my main trade tool/tools then I get the top spec makita range normally. Even then people say the hilti or fesstools are better most people have their preferred tool brands and often put the other brands down but tbh in my opinion a good tool is a good tool regardless of price or brand if it works and is well made, functional and safe to use then 👍 for me.

This is a circular saw, the brand SKIL do have circular saws, but you might hear people refer to a circular saw as a SKIL saw even when its a different brand. i know i do it sometimes. you could say its a bit like saying hoover instead of vacuum cleaner kind of thing

I'm not aware of left and right handed version in the UK tools are normally always right handed. However I use this saw with both left and right hands with no issues.

yes I agree, I'm sorry I didn't include any footage of using the saw. by the time I filmed this I had the saw a long time but it went faulty so had it swapped under warranty, so I just gave my opinion on how it cut and held up. I also wasn't good at editing at the time and didn't know how to put in shots of it cutting with speech over.
