26:02 Salman Sahab your talks are very impressive MashaAllah. you talk a lot and emphasize about the importance of mother tongue. you encourage people to talk to the children in their mother tongue and not mix two languages. however, in your lectures you mix Urdu and English. Indeed there are many words of English which might not be translated in Urdu but words like magnetism, time, answer etc. have Urdu alternatives. May Allah reward you for your efforts.

Thanks for sharing your views. InshAllah, if time permits, we will cover the subject in future sometime. But to comment briefly, public lectures may differ greatly in the needs as to what suits best - they are meant for wider audience, in contemporary flavor & proficiency of general public, more relate-able words & phrases than equivalent primary language words, profile of physical audience at the time of lecture like their proficiency, age, flavor, preference etc - Literary sessions or lectures on poetry etc available on our channel will differ from these for the same reasons and will sound more literary & so difficult for bigger part of the audience. Additionally, not to mention spoken/written differs too. So quite a few considerations but lets be vocal and very clear about kids that they should be allowed and facilitated to communicate in the language of their parents. All measures must be taken to support it in early years. Depriving them of their first language and forcing them to learn an alien one at cost of their first language is a crime and unfortunately its a widespread disease which we greatly condemn. @@ERDCPK but won't you agree that a language is learnt through listening and communicating not merely from reading and writing? If it was through reading and writing only then after passing our intermediate examination we all would be talking in pure Urdu unlike this mix and match that is normally used. I think that people who listen / benefit from your lectures are mature and literate enough to infer the meaning of an Urdu word that is being used. I learnt through Salman Sahab's lectures that مربّی is mentor, and a couple of more words. As for during the early years children not being not allowed to communicate in "an alien" language and encouraged to communicate in only their parents language, I think there should be an asterisk... It isn't necessary that the child has the same first language as their parents! A wide range of parents listen to these lectures and it depends on where the child is being brought up... Nonetheless, Salman Sahab's lectures are very enlightening and beneficial for parents from different walks of life. Jazakumullahu khairan

Thank you for an excellent talk! Very beneficial. Much to reflect on and opens venues of improvements on the critical subject of tarbiyah. Plus, having heard several of your talks, through retrospection, one can identify the causes of behavioral issues around you. It is mind-boggling how is it that such a huge gap existed for so long in our society in Pakistan when this is the fundamental responsibility of every parent to know 'what not to do' with a child.... I especially appreciate your bringing up the Urdu complex and the implications of this complex in not being able to access and articulate deeper thoughts that usually your mother tongue enables you to do.

Hi, after working in Australian preschools, I have learnt about self reflection. Here we always ask 5 year old children to do 5-10 minute self reflection time in one corner of class when they are having difficulty in managing their behaviour towards others and their environment. And during this self reflection time, a teacher constantly talks to the child about it in a relaxed voice, how their behaviour can impact others and themselves, how they can make it better, what could be a better way to do. No one says to them you are going to get punished for your behaviour. And we always try to build a relationship as explained in this video. And I have seen this works.
