They really did an amazing job with these watches. I can't help but compare them with Helm as they appear to be almost too good to be true for the price. I'm really happy for Jody. I can tell he has a real winner with these. I started following him several years ago when his channel was was still relaively new. He's accomplished so much since then. After what he went through with his channel it's great to see everything coming together for him.

Yeah Helm, Zelos, Tudor Pelagos, Sinn and Doxa. There’s multiple influences for sure. The market is so saturated that almost any new watch will remind people of other watches out there. He’s done well though to merge these influences into something I think is really fantastic, for an incredible price.

It’s a “safe” design for sure. That’s the problem with rabid hobbyists or fans of any product, service, brand etc. We get what we ask for and what do we do? We call it “meh.” It’s not the most original watch, but come on. This is the first generation and with its success will come a new and improved version, I hope. Am I the only one not surprised with a first generation product being kind of vanilla? Congrats Jody!

I hope most people agree that this was rather vanilla (not a bad thing) and I do hope other watch review youtubers are honest enough to admit it. Although the watch may be very well made, the influence of other designs on this one are clear to see. There a bit of a Tudor pelagos in there, the seconds hand is reminiscent of a Doxa diver, and the Helm Vanuatu has many elements similar to this one. Going through videos on JOMW, it's clear what designs and colors Jody likes, and he's taken his favorite bits and pieces of all the watches he's reviewed and put them into one.

On the other hand, I've really been struggling to find a dive watch with these specs that isn't too adventurous with its design or something that could be mistaken for a rolex or omega from a distance (just my preference for watches I want to wear in a professional setting). Or otherwise it's design isn't my thing. Maybe I'm the outlier. It the design is right up my alley.

Really reminds me of a Helm Vanuatu, and that is a major compliment. Like everyone, I’m glad to see that Jody and his partner were able to get everything right on the first go. Like you say, Peter, the guy has handled enough watches that he knows what works. Jody stated in his review that he wanted the tolerances to be looser for the curved h-link bracelet, and that the production models would have more articulation. That might alleviate your one "niggle."

Exactly. Pretty sure he will address that. The dangers of sending out pre-production samples to reviewers! I’m still ordering the flat link though as that really matches the style of the crown guards. The other reason is fit. I am well familiar with that San Martin style OTF clasp and although there are six points of adjustment they are very close. On an oyster style bracelet I can’t get a good fit as I’m all the way out with a link removed or all the way in with a link added. The shorter the links, the greater the chance of getting a good fit.

I have the same sized wrist as you and Jody, and although it would fit, it's just way larger than preferred. I was surprised when he revealed the size because he always talks about 40-20 being the ideal for most people, and that he personally prefers 37 mm. I guess he either recently changed his mind or he's catering to the large wristed. In any case, great value, and I really like the look of the purple one. I wish him well, and thank you for a great presentation!

It's a great first attempt by Jody at making a watch. The rounded-links bracelet simply looks better. I'm not calling these copies, but to my eye, the design sits somewhere between a Helm Vanuatu and a Tudor Pelagos, especially when you squint at the blue one.

Great value. To have a thinner more expensive version using say a Miyota 9015 could be the icing on the cake. Imagine a 11.5 mm thickness.

I absolutely love the Turquoise and red ones. Unfortunately I can’t pull off a 41mm case with a tiny 6.25 inch wrist so I’m hoping Jody makes smaller watches like this for us small wristed folk. Great video as always Pete!

Can't help but compare the black and blue ones to a Tudor Black Bay 58. They don't stand out or draw too much attention to themselves (maybe a little boring?), executed extremely well with few flaws to object to when put under intense scrutiny. The Safe but Satisfying choice at an excellent price point.

I was surprised by the size of the case. Jody consistently talks about "40-20" being the ideal case size/dimensions for dive watches, and then makes his own watch in 41mm. The do look great though (the blue one reminds me a lot of a Tudor), and seem like fantastic values for money. I do wish the blue one had a black bezel (or black with a blue bezel); which is the color combo he said he hated :/

I'm very close to pulling the trigger on one of these. The only thing giving me some apprehension is the size of the hands. I feel they are a little too beefy. The black framed ones found on the more colored dials do have the illusion of being a little thinner though.

If I could offload my DEEP BLUE diver I’d be all over this black Erebus unit asap. The watches look great for what they are… a simple and legible diver with all the things we normally complain about addressed and offered. Great job.

sorry if someone else has said this. Jody said in his video they're getting the bracelets amended to be better articulated. I guess that means larger gaps which might get rid of the hair pulling issue.
