Unfortunately I will have to repeat myself : These Japan nighttime shots are definitely the best I have seen from you and some of the best shots in terms of mood in general. I think I don't speak just for myself by hoping you will release a book with just Tokyo/Japan photos taken at night :D

Interestingly, my nighttime photos are unintentionally underexposed. I just thought underexposing would make the photo look better and easier to edit, and you pointed out that this was done to preserve the highlights

Your images are something else Eren… unbelievably good eye for the streets, I love the fishing technique as well, use it often. Do you recommend using lens filters i.e. cinebloom/black mist or do you find that they get in the way of achieving the look you’re going for?
@nightmode809825 күн бұрын
Your videos are super helpful for me as a beginner. And your footage is so dreamy and cinematic! Still can't decide between the 23mm f1.4 or f2.0 though :D I want one of them as my first prime for low light. But from what I have seen in many of your videos it looks like the 2.0 is enough.
@erenjam25 күн бұрын
Huge thanks 🙏🏼 Glad my videos are useful to you! Both great options, the 23 f2 is around half the price, lighter, has WR and f2 is fast enough, I shoot all the time with the X100VI which is also an F2 lens.
@nightmode809825 күн бұрын
@@erenjam thanks for confirming. I'll go with the f2 then! The 23mm is probably a good addition to my 16-50 f2.8 kit lens. Keep up the great work! :)

If your camera has a metering mode that protects the highlights (Fuji is literally the only brand that doens't have this) use that. You then don't need to underexpose manually all the time with the exposure comp dial. Aside from that, good tips.

It’s a good point, I use it on the Ricoh a lot

Great video as usual! I've got the 23mm f1.4 WR and is plenty fast. However how do you deal shooting wide-open and having the shallow DOF and getting the right focus especially with moving subjects?

The guideline of “shutter speed being double your focal length”, is that only for APS C cameras? Or do you mean the full frame equivalent of your focal length?
@ChrisDN25 күн бұрын
My base night settings are 1/100th, f5.6, ISO 6400. Too much light, drop the ISO a stop or two. Not enough light, I'm not close enough.

do you often times use mist filters for your work?
@erenjam25 күн бұрын
A while back id use them but these days I feel like I can get close enough in post and using the mist filter can be a bit too strong at night, especially if it has been raining
