Eren's "You've undone his brainwashing" is going down as one of the most unintentionally hilarious lines ever
@kwenasepuru46042 жыл бұрын
There are two important features about the Attack Titan's future sight that you need to keep in mind otherwise you'll percieve Eren's actions incorrectly. Firstly, Eren isn't able to directly see his own future. He can only see the future memories of the next inheritor of the Attack Titan. However, All of the 9 are still able to see the memories of past users. Which means Eren has access to all his dad's memories. His dad is able to see Eren's memories, therefore Eren is only able to see his own future by witnessing what his dad has seen. This results in some limitations, Eren is unable to know anything that neither him or his dad were present to witness. So for example, no matter what he never would've been able to know about Zeke's fight with Levi in the forest and his near death, because neither he nor his dad were present to witness that. Secondly, Grisha hasn't seen everything. Eren chooses what to show him. You can hear in this episode that he doesn't know if Carla is alive or not because Eren hasn't shown him what happens to her. So Eren is also running slightly blind, he only knows what he's shown his dad. That's why Gabi managed to shoot him and he looked genuinely surprised, since Grisha never witnessed that specific memory, then Eren couldn't know that was coming. Eren knows all the major events that are going to take place that he's there for, and not much else. But clearly since it's future memories it's all going to happen anyways even if he doesn't know exactly how.
@elheber2 жыл бұрын
The episode has two inserts: one of Eren kissing Historia's hand, and one of him reeling back after kissing her hand. The short scenes between those are the full extent of what he saw last season. He saw Grisha ask an unseen Eren if slaughtering all but the father is want he wanted and if this will save Eldia, and he saw his father speak to an unseen Zeke. This is all Eren ever knew of the future. Eren learned he was to blame, and that he needed Zeke. Nothing more.

> So Eren is also running slightly blind, he only knows what he's shown his dad A bit of clarification for others still confused, Eren can only see what *future* Eren has shown Grisha. Mostly in this episode. He kinda realizes he can do it when he accidentally sent future memories to Grisha when Eren looked at the picture with young Zeke in it and Grisha woke up and saw old Zeke. Everytime Eren was staring at Grisha and Grisha looks panicked, I interpret those as Grisha having glimpses. And the biggest one is when Eren reminds Grisha why he was there. For the rest of those future memories, it's kinda implied to have happened "offscreen" in-between scenes where Zeke and Eren are skimming through those memories.

1. How Eren manipulated Grisha :- Eren and Zeke are not time travelling. They're seeing memories of Grisha. During the last fight scene, which was in past, Grisha saw memories of Eren. And Eren seeing Grisha's memory and telling Grisha what to do is part of Eren's memory which Grisha saw in past during the fight. This way they communicated. Attack Titan's power is to see memory of other holders, but not changing past. But Eren figured out a way to create memory loop to change past. 2. How Grisha hugged Zeke:- When Grisha says "Why don't you show me future, Eren?" Eren let's Grisha see memory of what was happening there. There Eren saw Zeke standing in front of Grisha. This became Eren's memory. When Grisha saw this Grisha realised Zeke is standing there. So he hugged him as a final sorry. Now Zeke wasn't physically there in past. So if a random person saw Grisha that time, they would see Grisha is just hugging air there. Grisha can't even feel or see Zeke. He is seeing Zeke through Eren's memory not his own eyes. But that fake hug was emotional enough for them to cry. Grisha saw Zeke through Eren's memory becomes Grisha's memory. As Zeke was traveling through Grisha's memory he also saw that hug. And he also can't feel it physically. But similar to his dad it was enough for him to cry.

A subtle implication here is that Grisha went back to the founder on that specific day at Erens prompting, in other words Eren let his mother die so that he could get the founder and retain his animosity towards the titans. He could have had Grisha take his family with him that day, but he chose not to.
@習近平小熊維尼2 жыл бұрын
IMPORTANCE!!! Q : If Grisha knew what Eren was going to do and that he had to be stopped, why then did he commence with giving him the Attack titan and Founder? A: There could be multiple explanations. First, he doesn't know just how messed up the future could be if he changes such a critical event in the timeline. It might be better to try influencing further into the future through Zeke to prevent a massive shift in the events of the future. Second, he gives Eren his Titan after the fall of wall Maria, which he had yet to see the consequences of. It's possible that upon learning of Carla's death, his old hatred of Marley could have been reignited, since once again Marley had taken his family away from him. Third, he likely has less than a year left to live, and who else would he entrust his Titan to?
@number00172 жыл бұрын
Either way it is a huge plothole in the story.
@EthanBalkfield2 жыл бұрын
It was quite clearly because of Carla's death. In this moment depicted in episode 20, he clearly says that he doesn't know whether Carla is saved or not. The next time he meets Eren, he learns of Carla's death and immediately turns Eren into a titan so that he could eat him, while being visibly very much distraught. I think it's pretty easy to connect the dots if you think about it.

A couple things: 1) to explain how Grisha was seeing certain things, Grisha is able to see certain parts of the future because of Eren sending memories back in time. Eren was able to pick and choose what memories to send to Grisha. So for example, when Grisha saw Zeke in the basement, what he was actually seeing was a memory from Eren’s point of view. This means he saw himself from behind and saw Zeke through Eren’s eyes. Hope that explains it. 2) I highly recommend you watch Grisha’s breakdown scene in the sub. I know you guys prefer the dub, but the scene is just much better subbed in my opinion. Much more emotional.

@L8xG62 жыл бұрын
I don’t think the attack titan alone has the power to see future memories. This power has only been made possible because of Eren who has the attack titan and founding titan which he used to enter the coordinate and manipulate events by sending future memories to previous shifters living in the past. Remember what Kruger said to Grisha, that the attack titan, no matter what the era, kept moving forward. It was Eren who made that happen from the time the attack titan was born, to the great titan war, to the present time, and up to the very end.

This explanation also helps us understand Eren’s demeanor. Looking back, it even feels like he is living from memory to memory. He knows what will happen and has succumbed to the future, and that’s why he can’t answer questions and largely stays silent. Also smaller things like knowing Mikasa would save him from the War Hammer Titan can support the notion he is treating life like a connect-the-dot drawing, simply existing till the next dot, because he knows for a fact there is no danger to him and nothing to do in order to change it.

I like how those who don't speak Japanese think the sub of everything is better. The disassociate disorder of cultures allows one to believe to feel and hear what they can't understand from a language how they desire. For those that can understand both English and Japanese, it's a different story. You can hear and understand along with realize which actors are terrible, and which are better because you're not affected by the fallacy of disassociative emotions your mind creates since you already know the language.
@razerscale3590 Жыл бұрын
Literally my biggest issue with sub is better whiners. 99% of them don't actually know if sub is better because they don't understand any of the context of the language. They can't recognize how and where they portray emotion in their speech, they can't understand the meaning and they don't even know if the sub is correct they just assume it is because. So many people say "subtitles are better" only because they speak English and can breakdown the complexity of English voices. It's the same reason why people who don't speak English like songs and shows that people who speak English think are bad.

22:15 this moment right here represents something called a 'Temporal Causality Loop' for example, that scene from Family guy where Stewie says that he created the universe so that the universe can create him so that he can create the universe and so on, in this scenario Grisha gives Eren the Founding Titan so that Eren can go back and tell Grisha to keep fighting and gain the Founder to give to Eren and so on. If Grisha hadn't done what he did Eren would not have been able to access the memories of his father and cause the past to happen in the first place. EREN SAW GLIMPSES OF HIS OWN FUTURE THROUGH THE PAST MEMORIES OF GRISHA OF SEEING GLIMPSES OF FUTURE EREN'S MEMORIES. which means: 1. Eren never saw the future, he saw the past and got glimpses of future. 2. He only got GLIMPSES of the future, he doesn't know anything other than those glimpses. I'm just saying this cause in S4 Part 3, you'll get so much confused if you don't get this.

The most important and integral pivotal point of the entire series. Also the reason why Grisha can see Zeke or thinks he did, is because Grisha is seeing Eren's memories from the future from visiting that memory. This is possible because Eren is standing behind Grisha.

Idk if you have, but go back to watch Season 1. Sasha's father, his speech about children of the forest... it applies to Eren. A lot of the way Eren acts now can be traced back to what happened in the forest. Eren never really left the forest. His body was carried out, but his heart and mind are still in it, fighting. Because his regrets won't let him stop.

Never watched the dub but eren's voice actor has definitely gotten so good at the role. Especially when his voice reaches those darker, lower tones almost gritty, metal sounding. Like for example when he's influencing grisha to kill the royal family he did a really good job, and it further emphasized how he got through to grisha on an emotional level because he is more logically inclined as a doctor to think through rationally. The speech he gave to grisha really filled him as a reminder of all the emotional trauma he has had to endure because of what he started he convinced him to keep going.

FMAB, no questions asked. It is just that great. And it is especially perfect for you guys. I can list millions of reasons why this should be next but here's 10. 1. Quality over popularity, FMAB is popular but if you want the most quality out of the story FMAB is the way to go (DMS is a bit generic for me and DN drops off on the second half, it's still good but noticeable drop) 2. Diverse characters and a range of gray morality 3. THERE IS NO FORGOTTEN CHARACTERS 4. Top notch dubbing 5. The little moments will even have you crying 6. Philosophy galore, I would love to see Montana's thoughts on some of the characters and themes. 7. If you care, the OST is bomb (orchestral music for the win) 8. Smooth actions scenes, incredible re-watch value 9. Intricate plot that will keep you at the edge of your seats 10. Alchemic Magic system (I swear it's cool) Anyway please heed our cries for FMAB, do it for the story not popularity.
