Good trucks, damned shame they allowed the marque to die, I built frames/chassis for ERFs back in the late 70's. Sun Works is now an Aldi I understand, Edwin would be crying in his coffin I reckon. Good company and for the most part good people. Struggled to understand these blokes sometimes - been away from Beartown and the UK too long I guess. Cheers Scott, thanks for putting the clip on youtube mate, from an expat and ERF alumnus in Aus.

Great to watch, would love a pound for how many miles I did in one of these and for how many injectors I have changed on these. No working in gloves back then! That smoke used to make your eye stream when you started on in the garage.

innit. made me laugh at Peterborough truckfest this year. Sat around having some beers after cleaning truck. 2 lads about 30 going on how they cut there teeth on automatic dafs lol. neither of them had ever drove a manual. Showed them my new scania with a gear stick there faces hahaha. . it's a Different world is the trucking world now. When I was 14 I know how to drive a Eaton twin splitter. 10 speed spicer. 13 speed Eaton and the good old road ranger.

I owned and ran a C series with the straight 8 Gardner, really great to drive but would have been better with a Cummings engine. Mine was a Chinese six with sleeper cab ,rubber suspension and night heater. I spent 5 nights a week in it and loved it.

Undoubtedly the best lorries that's ever came out of Britain just couldn't kill them the gaffers motors that's what they were known as just kept on going the Germans should never ever have been allowed to buy the company never fell in love with ERF when my old man got a brand new one back in 1974 with Baird of milngavie osn 27 m that was the number

It would be great to see more from the Tailgate Productions (HGV DVD’s) archives, They produced many in-depth videos from 2000-2006, I suppose the rise of KZbin and illegal copyright infringement uploads like this created an unsustainable market for many smaller enthusiast production company’s.

You have to respect a man who was willing to sacrifice all kinds of comfort and self image to make a pound note. In the 80s these trucks werre kings of the roads but after the millennium still running an A reg. Nah fuck that mate haha.

They were bought out by western star who in turn sold them to MAN which was when I stopped buying ERF trucks the ECX being my last. After that I bought Renaults which proved to be outstanding trucks with the MACK engine
