I started noticing the Ergochair 2 showing up everywhere when looking for a new chair and started to have concerns that the company (Autonomous?) were paying for reviews, etc. since they were all over the place (not to mention the overly positive reviews). I'm glad to have found this review before paying the money for the chair since it seems to be a completely honest take on the chair. Appreciate it!

Me too I have this exact same suspicion as you. That Shevon Salmon dude who posts a "review", and then adds a link with a discount, and then I see the ads EVERYWHERE makes me think there's probably a lot going in the advertising. I went to my local Staples to try a few chairs and there was one I loved (the Dexley at 300cad), but I wanted to see if it was worth the premium to buy the ErgoChair2 instead (it retails at 450cad here in Canada), but all I can see are those suspicious reviews. I want the ergonomics first, and I think I will get the Dexley, unless convinced otherwise (I can't afford a 1500$ chair)

I've had this chair for 8 months. Never had a smell. It doesn't squeak at all. It does have cracking noises though. Like the chair moving around. Think he got a lemon. I have had Aeron chairs at work. My posture is worse in those chairs. But I believe the ones was smaller versions. Might not have been a C model. However one thing that ALWAYS gets skipped on Aeron chair is the mesh fabric. These seats will absolutely destroy your pants. I've had my office chairs burn through my clothing. The mesh design and plastic material will grate your clothing everytime you shift, move, or adjust. Over time it creates holes in your clothing.

@mithrawndogaming99294 жыл бұрын
Has to do with the materials used. Most of these office chairs use mesh whereas the Aeron uses something called 8Z (8 zone) Pellicle. Pellicle allows for different parts of the seat and back to have varying levels of tension. It is more giving where the body makes contact and tighter at the edges. If you take mesh fabric off a chair, it looks like a normal piece of fabric. If you take pellicle off of an Aeron, it would bunch up and look all crazy because of the way the different zones have different tension. Brilliant fabric that was created specifically for this chair back in the 90's.

I’m using a really crappy but very comfortable chair from staples. It has the advantage of being able to try it out. I think the ergo chair is equivalent to a chair from Staples except the ergo chair looks nicer visually. I only bought the ergo because of all the ads and stores were locked down back in March.

my first one had clicking noise, big one, so i complained to them, they sent me another one, quiet for a month and the clicking noise, even not as loud as the first one, came again, ended up ordering a herman miller, so regret to gamble on a less expensive chair while it is still more expensive than a normal office chairs from staples
@PharticusMaximus4 жыл бұрын
Because it has seat adjustment, lumbar support. chair can angle downward slope, rocking ability almost to the laying flat point... The clicking is from loose screws. Staples chairs are nowhere close to as adjustable or comfortable for the $325 these cost. Herman Miller $1,200, if you have that much to blow on a chair then for sure that will be better, but you can buy 4 of these for the same price or one of these and a PS5 + Xbox series X, etc.. bad comparison this and a Herman Miller.

I have had this chair since April and really don't like it. I am 6ft 225lbs and the seat hurts my backside after a long day in it. All of my complaints line up with yours in the review. Invest in a different chair!

Got my ergo chair 2, materials and build quality look really cheap in person, don't trust their photos on website, but function wise it's fine, to me it's comfortable and sturdy (compare to my current IKEA chair), no noise no issues yet, overall I am ok to keep it, I don't think it's fair to compare it with HM due to price difference, I have no experience with those high end chairs, not sure if HM is 5 times more comfortable than this one. I do believe most youtube reviews are paid by company, they all say good things about this chair, only lightly touch cons but actually not issues
@LinChearReal4 жыл бұрын
Good to hear that things are going well for you so far. It's all very subjective since we all have different body types, but my old $200 staples chair felt more comfortable than this one. Of course the staples chair is 5 years old and the material is completely falling apart. Time will tell what happens with this chair in a year or two.

Same thing happened to me. I ordered mine in early April and just got it last week. Unfortunately I'm pretty disappointed with the chair for a lot of the reasons mentioned in this video too, (the seat cushion is on par with a $50 staples chair I'm 175 pounds and I'm already very close to bottoming it out) so I'm gonna sell it and just get an aeron like I should have done in the first place.

Covid has every chair company at least on a months back order to receive the chair. They responded to me within 24 hours on Twitter DMs when I needed help, I consider their customer support to be good form what I encountered with them so far.

@@EldritchAugur I weigh 180 and its not close to bottoming out for me. Did you weigh yourself in the past few months? Lots of sitting around at home maybe due to covid has you up a few Lbs? lol. If you had $1,200 to spend on a chair why did you buy a $325-400 range chair in the first place? The absurd comparison of the Ergochair 2 with a top end Herman Miller just makes no sense. It would be like comparing a Toyota corolla with a top end Mercedes or something and saying how the Mercedes is built with higher quality interior and more features.

PharticusMaximus Thanks for reminding me to update this. I have received my chair. Overall wait was almost exactly 2 months. Chair is excellent quality, and customer service came through for me in the end. Not quick to respond initially but were kind enough to issue me a partial refund for the troubles. I must admit I should’ve been a bit more patient, however they should have been a bit more accurate with estimated ship times.

it's subjective, but I ended up buying the office chair that was at my workplace. It's an Ibex Mesh (google Ibex Mesh Chair). I have a video about it coming up. It doesn't look as fancy, but it's a great chair.

I highly suggest looking at an office supply store that locally in your area. I found one that was closer to home and they shipped , and the chair was cheaper, and way more comfortable.

Mine doesn't squeak yet, but you just need to tighten the screw man. Ity says to tighten screws every few months on bottom. No smell on mine either. For $400 and under(I got mine for about $325 on sale on their site) there is no chair better than the autonomous 2 IMO. If you find one, let me know. COmparing Herman Miller $1,200 chair to it is hilarious.. Anybody in comments thinking they "saved money" by not getting the autonomous due to your complaints is now going to go waste money on a racing style gaming chair I bet. Those are not nearly as good in comfort and durability with the cheap leather they use on all of them and no adjustability compared to Ergochair 2. The squeek you keep mentioning is loose screws, tighten em up buddy.
@LinChearReal4 жыл бұрын
+PharticusMaximus thanks for the feedback. I'm glad you're having a good experience with the chair. 🙂 All the screws have been tightened. I may just take it into the garage and spray it down with wd40... in the meantime I'm using my 10 year old $200 Staples chair again. What I should have done is just wait it out. There's a bunch of used aerons for $300-400 used now.
@PharticusMaximus4 жыл бұрын
@@LinChearReal Where? Everybody is working from home, so who would sell them cheap and in good condition? My chair came with a defect, I couldn't assemble it.. but yea now that they replaced that with a fully working unit, it feels way above any of the $300-400 chairs I've had up til now, mainly "racing style gaming chairs" or the staples/Ikea type chairs.
