I disagree, Hikari is the top streamers and most of the people wants to be friends with him, but if he still can't make good friends and be nice with people then it's his mistake
@TuequoiseQueso3 жыл бұрын
I think Hikaru's is a case of social ineptitude. He was homeschooled iirc, on top of that he probably wasn't spending time socializing with other kids. And as a teen/adult, if having social interactions with others doesn't feel like second nature, good fking luck making friends and bonding with people Because you're not picking up social cues(e.g. whether you're making the other party feel uncomfortable, or if they're interested in the topic/story you're talking about etc). You might come across as arrogant or rude even if you didn't mean to be. So Hikaru is IMO sometimes, arrogant/rude/immature you name it. But the real problem is imo he doesn't even realize or admit that he's those things. He seems to have this edgy "me against the world" mentality. Not everybody's out to get you man gees. It's not like social skills can't be learned, but he doesn't seem to be even trying.

This video is from 2018, they were drunk on a party and agreed to grapple and obviously Hikaru lost. On ICC usually when he lost a game he would immediately log off, and I notice recently he has this Tourettes like thing where he repeats himself constantly, or just matter of factly insult other players. There was a time back in the day he was claiming publicly that Carlsen was afraid of him, and then Carlsen seemed to have made a conscious decision to destroy him every time they met over the board and pretty much succeeded, and carlsen holds some ridiculously lopsided plus score over him in all formats. Carlsen also made a point of decimating him in some chess.com speed chess final some years back, I think Nakamura was streaming from Africa or somewhere like that and Carlsen made a special point of humiliating him in the bullet portion as well, which was supposed to be naka's forte. The stories of Naka's rudeness are legendary and you would be hard pressed to find someone that he has lost to that he didn't accuse of cheating, so there you go.
