He eats 4 to 5 eggs a day, tells his 3 million subs that you shouldn't worry about cholesterol, and thinks whole grains cause heart disease. Let's put his claims up against the research.

I'm 69. A year ago I was suffering from high BP and cholesterol was 220. Arthritis of the back and hands. Bursitis of the shoulder from a lifetime of heavy construction. I had dermatitis, prostatitis and ED. No energy and depression from having to deal with all of this. Thanks to mostly Dr Berg's advice I lost 40 lbs. Cholesterol is now 162. Triglycerides are 39. Dermatitis, ED and depression gone. Arthritis and bursitis barely noticeable. Energy through the roof. I'm back to working everyday fixing up my properties. I don't eat 4 eggs a day and after watching Dr Esselstyn and this thing about TMAO I'm on the fence about going vegan or not but I don't think we should demean Dr Berg's work because he has done a lot of good for a lot of people.

The man doesn't eat carbohydrates or sugar ever. The study you linked to doesn't even take this things into account, it only takes things such as saturated fat intake, smoking history,... Into account. Sugar mentioned zero times. Which is a bit strange seeing how it's sugar that glycates LDL and damages arthery lining therefore allowing LDL to build up inside foam cells in arteries. Dr. Berg is also recommending a keto (so sugar-free) diet and intermittent fasting, not just munching on eggs. Don't cherrypick one advice and think you've bested him.

But a high animal product diet does. Other studies show low carb diets work in the short run to lose weight due to water retention lost and chemicals called ketones have side affects like nausea which results in lack of appetite. Our brain and body needs glucose, a lot of people who ate long term a low carb diet feel like absolute shit. I eat as many carbs as I want, Ive gained nothing but pure muscle in the gym, beat my running record even though I rarely do cardio and feel brilliant. You are welcome to an opinion like everyone else, but the science shows eggs to be an unhealthy choice. Whole plants are what we were made to eat. veganism is about rejecting animal exploitation, about rejecting the idea that non human animals exist for us to use them as resources. Veganism is not a diet, is not about health, is not about environment, is not a life style, veganism is an ethical stance against exploitation, a moral obligation. That is good for you, but I could never do that at the expense of thousands of animals, starving children and future generations, who all suffer astronomically because western people refuse to take responsability for more than their own health. Imagine having to explain to a starving child that the world simply can't feed them because "I want optimal health". That IS the situation we are in. I'd rather suffer some minor health issues (which I don't) than have the most globally destructive industry on my consciense.

@@fromeveryting29 i really want to understand what does eating meat have to do with starving kids?
@fromeveryting29
@fromeveryting29 3 жыл бұрын
@@OriginalOrigins A lot, actually. First off, producing meat is very costly. It takes enormous ammounts of land and water to produce only one kg of meat, compared to one kg of plant food directly for human consumption. This means that if we stopped using all the land we now use to feed livestock (aka - if everyone went vegan right now), we could feed the entire world population THREE times over. Currently, we are using all that plant food to feed billions of animals, not people. This has been reported by Oxford university among others. The second fact is that over 80% of starving children live in countries that sell all their land to western countries, so that we can grow crops for animals there. It literally takes so much land to feed billions of animals that we have to effectivly steal it from poor nations. This again leads to the poor nations not having enough land to feed themselves. The simple fact is that veganism actually is the only way to end world hunder, today. It's a simple case of math and "the earth can provide for everyones need, but not for everyones greed." To end world hunger while the west still ate meat - we would need at least two earts. We have 1. Or as the environmentalist Phillip Wollen put it: "every steak is a slap in the face of a starving child". Most people don't realize this, but it is a well established fact. The wests greed for meat is quite literally the main contributer to world hunger. The world CAN'T provide food for 70 billion farmed animals + 7 billion humans. But it could easily provide for 7, even 10-15 billion vegans. That is only one of the reasons leading research institutions urges the west to reduce or eliminate their consumption of animals. Imagine being one of those starving children, knowing that the reason you will die soon is because greedy western people say "I just need meat every day for MY optimal health". That's the situation we are in.

People think cholesterol is the reason for diseases because it’s high when you have strokes and heart attacks, but that’s only because it acts as a Band-Aid to help heal damaged tissues and other things. It’s a good way to actually tell if you will have a stroke or heart attack but it isn’t the cause. Id like to know if all his info is based on hormone filled chickens 🤷🏼‍♀️

Dr. Berg is out there helping save people's health from total collapse! It's strange how little the mainstream medical industry gets wrong about diet and cholesterol.. but thanks to people like Dr. Berg, the truth is out there for those who seek it. I've tried everything and spent 100s of dollars trying to fix this naturally so I could stay vegan forever. In the end, I just kept getting worse. A low carb, keto diet is helping repair my gut and giving me my health back! He may only be a chiropractor but he's helped me more in the past 6 months than my actual doctors have in 3 years! This idea that a vegan diet is the ONLY way to be healthy is toxic and non factual. Why do so many have to leave due to health issues, if so? This, in turn, causes a mental collapse because you've conditioned yourself to believe eating animals is the highest sin. It was a major struggle adding foods back in (it still is, it doesn't taste as good as I remembered it) but I'm feeling better than I have in 6 years so I feel as though I made the right decision for MYSELF. If it comes from a factory farm, I don't touch it. Pasture-raised foods ONLY. Your diet shouldn't require dietary gymnastics to avoid illness. Some do okay on strictly plants but other struggle and SUFFER. And ICYMI: industrial Ag also contributes greatly to climate change. So while you save some animals, you are not helping the planet at all unless you grow your own organic foods or buy strictly from small family owned farms and farmers. Plants die to feed animals and animals die so that plants can grow. This is nature's cycle. We all rely on each other for survival. I'm for the total destruction of industrial Ag but to say that some pasture raised, grass fed animal products in the diet aren't beneficial for many is just flat out not true. Peace and good health to everyone out there, no matter what you eat!!✌🏽💕

Its pretty gross. If the animals were all free range just living their best lives and culled at an old age, AND processed plastic free, id have 0 issues w the practice/industry. After all, i dont label wolves or lions evil. What would really be great is if lab grown meat would become a mainstream healthy alternative before i die. I can't believe you did a video on a topic you know so little about! You start with a conclusion and work backwards, you give new meaning to "Logical Fallacies" and "Cognitive Dissonance" I've been a fitness professional for 3 decades and have routinely eaten 5-10 whole eggs a day, I'm 52 years old, 112 kg, 16% body fat, PSA of a 20 year old, cholesterol normal to low always, the only time it goes a little high is when I increase my carb intake significantly, I don't do any cardio, and only lift weights. Resting pulse 64 beats a minute, Blood pressure 132/78. My grandfather and Uncle died from complications related to prostate cancer. Whenever I get athletes ready for shows and their body fat % drops well into single digits, their cholesterol plummets, I have seen readings 3 times below the measurable range, and this is when the cholesterol intake is 5-10 times the "RDA" The reason this is because when your carbs are restricted your insulin will be low. Insulin is a protagonist to HMG CoA Reductase, which is critical to cholesterol production, which is how statins work, they interfere with HMG CoA Reductase activity. You have no idea what you're talking about, the studies you cite are either fallacious or fraught with inconsistencies, most are not double blind, and there are way too many variables to get any type of accurate data! I and my athletes do eat carbs, my goal is to build lean muscular athletes, and being low carb or doing intermittent fasting is not beneficial to muscle mass and maintaining an elevated metabolism, if I had people that were just trying to improving their health metric and increase longevity, I would go a similar route to Dr Berg! Wrong you are!

And I haven't had the time to fact check that claim 🙂 So, for all intents and purposes, I thought, maybe results in different people from a certain diet may differ and if he gives just his experience as an example, others may have different experiences. But then again, a Vegan arguing against someone promoting to eat more protein and eggs? Surely trying to prove his point of how you would benefit from being a vegan, which is pretty dubious if you claim to be a dietarian. I mean, if it's for ethic reasons ... Structurally, almost everything in your body is made up of Protein / Fat, not Carbohydrate. Protein is critical to many enzymatic functions in the body. Bone is made of mostly Protein (Collagen) and Minerals. If you are protein Deficient, your bones will be weak and compromised. If your Digestion is compromised, you cannot absorb Vitamins and Minerals from food effectively, requiring your body to break down bone and take minerals from it to maintain Metabolic functions. Overtime, the body degrades. It doesn't happen over night. Bodily tissue is made of Protein and Fat. Many people are rushed to the hospital for Protein deficiency - we've just never called it that.

Well, even respected climatologists like Dr. Judith Curry who is a Professor and former Chair of the School of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at the Georgia Institute of Technology have their doubts about the global warming narrative. (see: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fabNfZacmdSpe5o) But, how could anyone believe in a flat earth when you can see the sun rise above the horizon and set below the horizon every day with your own eyes!! It's not like you need to evaluate the veracity of a scientific committee's evaluation of whether the sun rises and sets everyday. The sun should always be above the horizon on a flat earth or else the entire planet would experience night at the same time. Anyone can confirm with their own eyes that the sun is not always above the horizon and can confirm that the entire planet does not experience night at the same time.

@@VeganBrainFood Nah, not all climatologists moved passed evaluating global warming claims for accuracy. (see: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fabNfZacmdSpe5o ). In the 1960's and 70's it was fashionable for scientists to predict that an ice age is coming ( see: stevengoddard.wordpress.com/2013/05/21/the-1970s-ice-age-scare/ ) but now it seems to be more in style to predict global warming. Well, whether we are facing an ice age, global warming, or just a bunch of people looking to profit from bullshit, we should all be concerned about the crisis.

@@KineticSymphony Exactly. The term "climate denier" is essentially meaningless - after all, who *denies the climate?* There also appears to be a major media effort to conflate "climate" with any and all other environmental issues, thus making dealing with any of them in a rational manner extremely difficult if not impossible. Fortunately, there's a growing number of #VegansForClimateRealism who - quite apart from realising that veganism is about the animals - realise that the Anthropogenic Global Warming ('AGW') hypothesis has failed to predict anything. That is, it's clearly a failed hypothesis, and yet its advocates have the audacity to declare that "the science is settled" and that anyone who dares to question this alleged "scientific consensus" is either morally reprehensible or psychologically afflicted (a "denier"). Contrast this fatally flawed hypothesis with the work of solar based long range forecaster Piers Corbyn whose forecasts are made with around 85% accuracy. We are now moving into a Grand Solar Minimum which means we'll see cooling become more obvious - possibly another mini-ice age. It is *trivial* to make the environmental case for veganism without relying on the failed - and increasingly understood to be failed - AGW hypothesis. Furthermore, a cooling climate with the consequent lowering of crop yields will be yet another argument in favour of a plant based diet - there'll be less crops to waste on fattening up slave animals. historical-data-for-investigation.wikidot.com/wiki:climate-change-xr-exposed

And are you really that ignorant you don't know the whole process of how eggs are produced in the egg industry? Of course eggs people eat are infertile, but the hens who lay the eggs have to be female right, when they are bred into existence? So they have to make fertile eggs also for the egg laying hens. And when they do that, that is when they separate the baby male and female chicks, and the male ones get ground up alive in something called a macerator, which is basically a giant blender that crushes them as they fall into it off the end of a conveyor belt, or sometimes they are suffocated to death, put in a gas chamber, or in a plastic bag that gets tied up to suffocate them, but generally the standard industry practice is that they get ground up alive in a macerator.

@@tonytheking6737 for fat, a lot of olive oil, avocado, cream, cheese, dark chocolate (85% or more), lot of nuts, also seeds. And lots of vegetables. I did it to lose fat after mass building in gym and worked great. But I wouldn't do it in the long term. Max 2-3 month.

Nutritionally and environmentally you seem to be missing the starting point for Dr. Berg and Eggs....that is, Organic Pasture Raised eggs
@cleverestx

…and THAT is going to magically make 48% of the eggs build tissue in the human body, as per his ridiculous claim? Please explain how that would alter the nutrient profile of the egg.

@ashrt232585 2 жыл бұрын
@@32starsandsugar Actually, it does change the nutritional profile? For example, say you got locked up indoors for 2 years, not getting any substantial sun (vitamin D!!) and were forced to eat a nutritionally void diet of GMO corn and grains. You'd be pretty sick and unhealthy.... right?? Same applies to these birds. These pasture raised animals are exposed to direct sunlight (Vitamin D is literal magic!) they get that essential k2, eat worms and bugs from rich soils due to all that manure that helps fertilize the land etc. This is Nature's intention, not mine. So how does it not make sense that these animals would be healthier and produce healthier eggs than chickens locked in rooms or crammed in cages? Seems pretty basic to me 🤔

@julieowens7095
@julieowens7095 4 жыл бұрын
Studies often count this percentage mortality rate in the duration of their studies...helps find out who his dying earlier from what. You see, not everyone die's every day or at 30 or 40 or 50 years of age. I hope I haven't further confused you

14:00 is an important point well said! Shawn baker bragged about having a zero CAC. He could be full of soft plaques- exactly right those are what causes heart attacks. And soft plaques rapidly become calcified after mid 50’s. You should have dr Kahn do a short video on that.

The study shown at 3:15 has many misrepresented facts. See my public comment for a break down. Shawn Baker probably won't have hardened arteries, or osteoporosis, because he's getting plenty of Vitamin K2. Unfortunately, this is another nutrient that is absent in a Vegan diet. It's also found in Eggs. Studies below.
