I saw Sandman once in ECW and blown away. His matches are brutal on KZbin. I just watched one I hadn’t seen. Live tv makes the difference when it’s happening on your screen. Guys missing I think makes it a better show. Nitro was a hot show. It felt like you were at the action.

It makes sense that a person being forced to drive his enemy around would pull something like that, especially considering the gang mentality of the nWo. The angle sure went downhill after that, though.

i thought they didn't want to call him sandman because of the sandman comic book which was under DC which was owned by time-warner at the time. they were going to make a sandman movie and didn't want the stink of wrestling on the name. this is why raven and hak both wore sandman shirts on television.

@bigron8896
@bigron8896 11 ай бұрын
They weren't making a movie then. The comic wasn't that big until years later. It took off when it started getting collected as "graphic novels" TPB and sold at Barnes & Noble when they pivoted towards sales of that in the 00s even though the first trade paperback was before that. Sandman was from the Metallica song "Enter Sandman". They used to play that. They dubbed over it on the WWE versions of ECW stuff. Had nothing to do with the comic. Raven's whole alt-rock grunge/goth/industrial thing was from pop music and The Crow, he quoted Poe, and he was a big fan of "The Sandman" comic and occasionally wore the shirt. He wore other comics shirts and band shirts like KMFDM and ministry.

Sandman always sucked in the ring. The gimmick and the promos/angles got him over and basically all of that was taken away in WCW. Seeing him in WCW felt like they were rolling his corpse out to the ring in a wheelbarrow and just dumping him in the ring to be pelted with objects.

So you couldn’t call him sandman and let him be sandman because you feared litigation from ECW? Bischoff: that’s a bunch of Meltzer Bullshit! Yeah we couldn’t call him Sandman. Yeah we couldn’t let him act like sandman. But it’s Meltzer Bullshit! Umm sounds like Meltzer is right. You changed his name and character bc you didn’t wanna have another lawsuit. How is Meltzer wrong? Also you didn’t have copyright music for obvious reasons. And didn’t mention ECW because again, lawsuits. How is any of this Meltzer being wrong?!?! Because you don’t like him? Everyone just accepts what Prichard and Bischoff say about Meltzer being a liar but then continue to prove he isn’t with their own words lol.

For those who struggle with why WCW can’t just take wrestlers and continue to gimmick owned by the previous company, not just wcw, wwe, tna, aew anyone…think of it like this… Let’s say Walter White who is owned by AMC right? That character is? Let’s say idk, Dexter who is owned by showtime wanted to take Brian Cranston and make him Walter White on their own show on Showtime? Can that do that without AMC saying ok? No. People forget wrestling companies are NOT unlike any other tv show. Marvel can’t just one day bring in Ben Affleck to play Batman in a MCU movie. It amazes me how much this concept is lost on wrestling fans. IP is owned by the trademark holder.

Sandman was a loser! If it wasn't hardcore his matches would suck,if it was hardcore than the match still sucked because he was in it. How was he ever a wrestler? He couldn't wrestle,that was proved in WCW and WWE surely as hell didn't give him a call. He then signed to WWE and failed like he was a school kid. All he ever did was drink and smoked cigarettes and a weak stick wrapped in tape.
