Wish Eric had done "when I was young". I'm not hip, but Paint it Black stinks with excess. Don't worry Kitty, you got to feel the dying embers of Disco excess. Where is my red star? Never, none.

Every band evolves, moves on. Speaking as a gigging musician, you get tired playing the same songs show after show. New material is what keeps you going, keeps things fresh in your mind. Hendrix evolved masterfully, he was tired of playing the same "hits" all the time. At Monterey Hendrix exploded onto the scene and was fresh and new, Eric Burdon had been doing it for years up to that point. The Animals were part of the 'hit making' "British Invasion" like so many other bands of the era. Eric Burdon is a phenomenal talent that was true to his love of blues and R&B. Yes this is from the psychedelic era and listening to a painfully out of tune "San Francisco Nights" was not the best but "Ginhouse Blues" & "Hey Gyp" are classic examples of the great Eric Burdon energy. Very few people will probably agree with me, I love their US vinyl album "Animalism" from about 1966 the best. Overlooked and not loaded with radio hits but OMG an incredible recording - 'Going Down Slow' 'Shake' (by Sam Cooke) 'Hit the Road Jack' 'Louisiana Blues' 'Hey Gyp' 'Smokestack Lightning' 'All Night Long' (by Frank Zappa) 'Rock Me Baby' (BB King) 'Lucille' (Little Richard)...this was top shelf through out, great musicians/arrangements/vocals/emotion/vibe. From Burdon's psychedelic time "Every One of Us" was a very good album too, better than the "Sky Pilot" material.... my two cents.

i’m 19 and missed this music during its relevancy and when it could be compared to music released alongside it, so even out of touch music is just as unique to me as a lot of the more experimental or forward pushing music, def agree that animalistic is underated, had a really good consistent sound and i liked it as a whole more then the original animals others albums minus maybe animal tracks

Not every 1964 English band could handle the shift to 1967 psychedelia . Eric Burden - with some new Animals on board - was a master of many styles . Im still waiting for the film of his whole set . How he , the Doors , Love and Led Zepplin missed the Woodstock Festival I will never understand .

@@JJFrostMusic funny the songs they still play on the radio, are the ones he walked away from. The ones you mention don't get air time. Drugs sure screwed up everything.
@JJFrostMusic5 жыл бұрын
@@ilovealaska2000 you know what, I don't give a fuck what is played on the radio, Eric also went on to boost the career the band War, spill the wine is is still being played. But anyways, those psychedelic songs are master pieces loved by deep cut music lovers, I like his early stuff too but in the late sixties in the time of psychedelia, you have to go progressive and not be a juice box. Eric burdon experimented with his craft and I respect that. Drugs did him great!
@ilovealaska20005 жыл бұрын
@@JJFrostMusic War kicked Eric to the curb.He had nothing after that. I grew up with the drug era. Drugs shortened the road for most groups. They couldn't even do pull off Woodstock 50. Eric Burton is a classic example of a has been.
