@@routineproofmusic454 hate is a strong word, which he didn’t use. It makes perfect sense to dislike a player because they caused you pain in a heated rivalry. I saw Erics debut for Manchester United in Lisbon in a friendly against Benfica. So much was expected of him and the game passed off with nothing special to report. What I saw was glimpses of talent. When he settled down and got to know his teammates, the transformation was incredible. When United started winning, it was because of him....pure and simple. I was also at Selhurst Park that night in 1995, sat directly opposite when he challenged football. I saw him do it.......I still cherish the moment. He won the challenge, as I know plenty of players who had wanted to do the same thing, but didnt have the bottle. He is a worldly man with a voice that has you transfixed. If you lived through the EC era, you were blessed.

One of the best to grace the PL. it’s hard when you see modern players thrown around as world class and the best ever when players like cantona aren’t put in the same bracket. He was everything a player could be. Two feet, passes, crosses, great in the air, quick and his vision was second to none. And he could mix it with proper tough centre halves who used to be allowed to tackle unlike today’s lot. If we are defining world class its players like ERIC that should be right at the top of the list. He transcended the PL in so many ways and annoyingly so he changed man united forever. His foot print on that club should never be under estimated. Love this guy. King fu kicks, tantrums and all ❤

I went and rewatched the "Seagulls" press conference again after this. Iconic is an often overused term but that's exactly what it was. The sip of water is just chef's kiss.

Phenomenal interview, it's great to see the human side of Eric in a long-form podcast! The ending actually makes sense now I've heard it a couple of times. Just like his seagulls and sardines comment. The man is an artist!!!

👍👍👍❤️ Hey, after disliking the guy for his United goals, trying to sneer at the trawler quote (but failing because even I, as a teenager, realised it was next level for a footballer), I listened and enjoyed this interview, appreciated he's still a little guarded *but what an ending* He's got a sense of humour and still got that flair. Loved this👍❤️

This is a reference to the new Ford Capri. A video literally popped up on my FB feed by Ford as I was watching this interview. Cue the end and it all made sense. FB definitely listening...

A legend and an iconic figure that still commands the stage when he played people stood up and watched and when he talked people listened, charismatic, magnetic and enigmatic. A wonderful man and an icon of the premier league without doubt.

Knowing now that he’s into music makes sense, as during his time in Manchester I met him and his mate Claude Boli (who wrote a book about Eric called the King and I) at the iconic music venue ‘Band on The Wall’ in Manchester. He’s a cool guy and was very sociable. It’s great that he’s on the show.
