The media twist everything. It's you - the media - who are obsessed with Cristiano and make everything about him 24/7, because you know that the name Cristiano immediately increases your viewership, likes, and engagement - that's a fact! Why don't you talk about Kane since you are from England? You are talking 10000000% more about Ronaldo than Kane, lol. Ronaldo just does his job on the pitch, literally! Ronaldo got emotional as anyone would in this situation, that's all! Messi cried after missing a pen at the Copa& World Cup, and retired from Argentina, did you comment like that about Messi when it happened? Also, it's somehow only a 'mental health' issue when it's Kane who missed pen vs France or Rashford, but when it's Ronaldo he can be abused, right? Your behavior and hypocrisy are so pathetic, seriously! The same people who whine that Cristiano cried are the same people who lectured us about the fact that 'men can cry too' and the need for therapy! What a joke! It's lucky that you at least talked about Cristiano's brilliant movement in the box because he is a master of it, it's not talked about enough - he is now a typical striker, and his ability to find small spaces to shoot, his ability to lose the defenders and occupy brilliant shooting positions are second to none! And that's why Ronaldo is still the best option as a striker for Portugal - that's a fact! Meanwhile, no one is blaming Kane for England's lack of fluidity, no one is questioning Mbappe for France's shittiness in front of the goal and everyone questions their managers Southgate and Deschamp, and rightly so, but in the case of Portugal, it's Ronaldo that's the cause? Are you seriously that blind and oblivious to your own agenda?! Mbappe hasn’t stepped up, Griezmann, Depay didn't, Lukaku didn't, Sesko didn't, Foden didn't, Bruno didn't, Silva didn't, Leao didn't, Felix didn't, Hojlund didn't, and the list goes on& on! They're all younger than Cristiano and in their prime, yet you don't question them! Do you know Cristiano has been playing with chronic pain every day, since 2014? Of course, you don't! This is not some light injury a la Messi that passes after a week, no! Cristiano was diagnosed with chronic tendinosis in his knees in 2014. That means constant pain every time he moves his knees and is only manageable to some extent with special treatments, cold baths, and medications, but not curable, it's chronic! Cristiano was a brilliant winger for most of his career but had to evolve in his game and change into a striker to save energy and his knees, coz running as a winger like he used to, in this condition, would be disastrous for him! This evolution shows you how smart Cristiano is as a player & athlete - this allowed him to score tons of important goals and win things for years now! As a striker, he does still a marvelous job, just as you said - his movement in the box, and finding space and position to score goals, are second to no one! As for the free kicks, this is the decision of the coach and training staff, you have no idea what goes on within the team, and why Martinez made this choice! Are you suggesting you know more about this sport, Ronaldo, and the team?! When was the last time Bruno scored a free-kick? I can't even remember! Cristiano is an elite athlete, one of the greatest that this planet has ever seen, he is almost 40 years old, and has experience and knowledge of the smallest details of this sport! Not to mention he has the greatest mental fortitude I've ever seen, especially since he is viciously attacked and hated on 24/7. Most of us under such pressure, constant hate, and having the world obsess over us, would commit suicide a long time ago! But Cristiano keeps going because he has ambition, and you & others confuse it with selfishness. Some pathetic journos dare to lecture or write complete bollocks about an athlete like that!! It's like teaching mathematics to Einstein! You won't tell him when to retire or lecture him about the game, he knows what he is doing! And waiting for you to say the same about Messi who is also old, and had only terrible misses at Copa now, Martinez is literally carrying him, but you don't hear about Messi having to retire, right? And before you start to defend Messi with the 'playmaker' nonsense - Cristiano also assisted vs Turkey, and had a great game vs Turkey! Double standards as always, when it comes to Ronaldo!

I'm surprised that you, as the ex-players and 'experts', as people who constantly talk to ex-teammates of Cristiano, and people who are very deeply involved in the world of football, still don't know Cristiano, or how an elite athlete like this really thinks! Did you read Ronaldo's biography by Balague? There are some fascinating things about Cristiano's mentality there. Cristiano is a genius and a perfectionist -that's the main thing. Literally in almost every single interview about Cristiano since his enormous success during his first spell at United, people who know him or even Cristiano himself talked about how Cristiano was always very emotional, and he always cried and was mad at himself if he lost a match or made an error. These are the tears of a perfectionist and a giant of an athlete and human, who always puts the greatest demands on himself, and when he fails, he is angry at himself!! This is why Cristiano took the first penalty during the shootout, after the miss; he literally said it after the match: 'to take responsibility, to ask for forgiveness, and to fix his mistake'. That's HOW much he cares! If anything that shows you how amazing this man is! Please, show me just one English player, even among the young English stars now, who is that driven, who demands such standards from himself, who willingly takes this kind of pressure on his shoulders, and who is still not satisfied! And all while he is already a billionaire, won everything in this sport, broke all kinds of records - he could easily just retire and not have to endure the vicious media attacks! Yet he still wants to fight till the end, still wants to give everything he's got! I mean, as you said in this video - Cristiano is insanely driven, he has the greatest mentality I've ever seen in sports, on the level of Ali and Jordan!! FACT. And this is exactly how the elite, greatest athletes but also in general - the greatest people in history - are built! You can't teach a mentality like this, you have to be born with it!

As good as Alan was, Ronaldo has had quadruple times the career. Let that sink in! Alan and Gary have definitely lost it. There’s criticism and feedback and analysis, and then there’s disrespect and jealousy. As good as the excuse ‘doing our job’ is, disrespecting greats/the greatest of all time simply brings their character down in many people’s eyes. Completely different Ramos is striker plays back to goal and holds ball up for wingers to have interplay with. He also presses so Portugal aren't always having to break down a low block every time the length of field. It's youth level basic tactics. The 4-2-3-1 with Ronaldo at 9 as someone who can't hold ball up doesn't work for him or team. It's awful managing Ronaldo doesn't have quickness or abilities to get on crosses in air anymore. He needs wingers close to him to play one twos those are things that Felix, and jota do quick guys who attack but dribble wonderful. Leao likes open field running at people. Silva isn't quick but world-class. He hasn't yet picked balanced attack and he insists on playing leao and Ronaldo together despite they are only two that don't press. Ronaldo is struggling physically, emotionally but he's a legend and full of pride it's coach job to save these guys from themselves and put them in position to succeed. Ronaldo isn't threatening at all man he's had twenty shots . Bruno led qualifying with 9 goals 8 assists he's heartbeat of team and had 3 shots all tournament. Ronaldo is taking twice that each match without scoring. He's taken five more shots than anyone else and havertz in second has been benched for only converting twice out of fifteen shots. Ronaldo hasn't scored I've watched every tournament since world cup 1990 and there's never been anything like this. It's so out of control and not how any player or manager at professional level has ever behaved. I'm Portuguese been a fan long before Ronaldo and we are all suffering and it's embarrassing. Ramos and jota have to be rotated he can start but then he won't be available for shootout if there he should come on at 60 minutes he will have fresh legs against tired defenders . Put him in better position and more importantly this team finally have chance to be dangerous and difficult to defend by playing with balance. It's absurd situation.

As good as Ronaldo is unfortunately Portugal are far too predictable and one dimensional when he plays, it’s sort of the same issue Juventus and Man Utd had when they signed/resigned him, yes he grabbed plenty of goals to boost his stats but it was to the detriment of the whole team and you could probably argue Juventus probably regressed from being Champions League contenders in terms of how they played My issue watching the Slovenia game is the way Ronaldo plays sort of handicaps the strengths of his wingers, you’re used to seeing Leao, Jota and Silva cut inside and go direct into central spaces from out wide but they are giving Ronaldo the ball and rather than a give and go for them to overlap into central space, he’s playing them back out wide as if to say “thanks now go cross it for me” I saw a lot of what has been driving me mad with Kane too, Ronaldo was drifting into spaces he had no business of being, purely to cut off runs off his own team mates passing through central areas or demanding the ball in an area he has less impact on than say Fernandes, Vitinha or Palhinha 🤷🏻♂️ the main difference is Kane is less demanding when he’s in places he really had no business being, instead he just gets in unhelpful positions and almost removes himself from the game I think many would agree with Kane for example he’s looked sluggish and it’s all well and good scoring the winner in extra time but the reality is the game could have been won in the 90 minutes if a forward was on that improved the balance and cohesion of the team for what was needed at the time and I think as similar argument can be made with Ronaldo that it’s all well and good pointing to moments of brilliance but you do have to question whether the team as a whole might have found a result earlier or regardless without his involvement or with more limited involvement. They’ve literally got Gonçalo Ramos and Felix sat on the bench who could come on and enable the rest of the team to play their natural game, I’ve never seen the rest of the Portugal’s attacking options look so meek as when Ronaldo is on the pitch I’m not saying he shouldn’t play but I do think Martinez shouldn’t be intimidated or afraid to switch things up and to manage his minutes more effectively to have a more dynamic team Portugal were just far too easy to defend against. As the guys said it’s difficult because Ronaldo is a superstar, he may not be as good as he used to but he’s still a great player and to the Portuguese he’s a hero so they don’t want to be seen as disrespecting a legend but at the same time Ronaldo and Martinez need to be putting some trust in players who are still in their prime and still competing in elite competition every week and especially letting specialists do what they are good at (I.E cutting inside and set pieces)

He is the last player to score a free kick for Man Utd with his solitary strike in his 2nd spell at the club. Now, please explain why Bruno should be taking free kicks? You're not familiar with Paul Gascoigne then I take it. Take a look at clips of Italia '90 and our semi-final with West Germany. You'll find it educational. I think Christiano Ronaldo has been massively indulged by the British media over the years. His gripe that the chefs at Carrington had hadn't changed and his observation that Wayne Rooney wasn't as good-looking as him only served to denigrate him in the eyes of the public. Then there was the way he flounced out of Man Utd without giving an ounce of respect to the Man Utd fans who had attempted to galvanise Ronaldo during his family tragedy. Once again English football supporters are fed-up with seeing an extremely talented and extraordinarily well-remunerated generation of players make an absolute arse of a winnable international tournament. It's understandable that they should feel annoyed. The economy has tanked, the cost of living is rocketing, no good news is on the horizon and the England team manager who is paid £5,000,000 per annum can't select a decent team or choose match-winning tactics if his life depended on it! I feel there's a significant bias in comparing Ronaldo's and Gazza's emotional breakdowns. Both players got emotional at the thought of missing out if their teams advanced. In fact, Gazza's situation was arguably more self-centred, as it was only his personal loss. In contrast, Ronaldo's breakdown stemmed from the burden of potentially letting his entire team down. The pressure he faced was immense. It's worth noting that England wasn't leading when Gazza had his moment, either. The only peculiar aspect of Ronaldo's performance was his fixation on free kicks. Otherwise, it's unfair to criticize him, especially when comparing it to Gazza's moment.

Honestly I think Cristiano was crying just because he knows he’s losing his footballing ability deep down

This isn't the first time I saw CR7 cry. He was at a roller-skating ring in Spain last summer and requested the venue be closed to the public during his visit. The venue declined and then he stormed out throwing his Pepsi on the ground, crying. Luckily his manager managed to turn things around by buying him an ice lolly and a hot-dog.

I love this podcast/show ever since I stumbled across it. You guys are so funny together, I feel you need to do a Gray, Alan & Mich travel show like Gino, Gordon & Fred 😂😂😂😂

The Ronaldo hate is so forced sure he might not be as good as he was at one point but what are the options Ramos or Felix. All of the star attacking players for Portugal have been poor this tournament but media is deciding to focus on ronaldo instead. Also in terms of freekicks who would be a better option to take the freekicks its not like Portugal have free kick specialist that ronaldo is taking the ball away from.
