I prefer this Era of Clapton over his Cream era. His aggression is more articulated here. The chops are tighter, and the tone is to die for. This style of his inspired plenty of blues-rock artists.

There’s not a single person who captivated the 80’s like Slowhand did. One cannot think of the big 80’s without thinking Clapton. I love how he grew with & through the decades. From lay down sally in the 70’s to forever man in the 80’s to tears in heaven in the 90’s. There are way too many to list from each decade, but you get the point.

He helped bring guitar playing especially blues to the masses. Those ones you mentioned didn't do any of this. They put out stuff that isn't commercial doesn't sell or generate public interest.

Clapton is unique amongst artists. Having total Blues cred, he masters pop music. It could also be argued that his voice outshines he guitar playing. He is sort of a combo BB King and Buddy Holly.

I was a big Cream fan and I was only 11 years old when I started listening to them. The reason for this is because I have a brother who was 8 years older, and a sister who is 12 years older.
