I prefer this Era of Clapton over his Cream era. His aggression is more articulated here. The chops are tighter, and the tone is to die for. This style of his inspired plenty of blues-rock artists.

When I started lessons with a teacher to learn to play the organ he would say to me "When you play you don't just play how the music is written in the book, you have to add feeling to it". "When you can bring people to tears i will know ive taught you enough". 45 years later and im proud to say ive achieved everything my teacher said i could do .

I am, I am! You two above me asked the same question that I was going to post! Obviously, we all love Eric Clapton and forever man is one of his best! Do we have any Cream fans here? I was a big Cream fan and I was only 11 years old when I started listening to them. The reason for this is because I have a brother who was 8 years older, and a sister who is 12 years older. My brother was more of a rocker than my sister, but we all loved different genres of music! I hope all of you have fond memories like me!❤😊🎉

One of the all time great videos. Cowboy styled Long jackets (aka the Wild Bunch) just make this band look so cool (without even trying)....... And just to add the finishing touch .................Donald "Duck" Dunn one of the greatest (anyone who's seen The Blues Brothers knows that)..........RIP my friend. Gone but NEVER Forgotten!!!

+Dennis Osborne Wow, I would have never guessed Jeff was drumming on this song. But then again, I was completely blown away when I took a look at his incredible discography. Growing up there were so many songs I loved that I later discovered the common thread was Jeff playing on all of them. R.I.P. Jeff...a fantastic musician who is truly missed. This also happens to be one of my favorite Clapton songs as well.

FunkinItUpaBit its one of my favourites of Eric too. Jeff played on so many top tracks.I first heard of him on Steely Dans Katy lied , he was only about 20 years old when he played on that. He also played on about half of Dire Straits On Every Streets album. His playing on Calling Elvis is great.

+Dennis Osborne Interesting you should mention "Katy Lied" because that Steely Dan album and "Silk Degrees" by Boz Scaggs were the first time I remember really dialing into Jeff's drumming. Out of all the great drummers Steey Dan used over the years Jeff was the only one who's tracks never ended up on the editing floor. I read where he was so stressed out recording "Katy Lied" that it just about put him over the edge. Check out the album, "Strange Kind of Love" by Love and Money if you have a chance. Jeff's drumming is incredible on that very underrated album.

@Jeff C Did they have commercial hits, awards & have they been inducted into Rock Hall 3 times. This is what I meant by Eric perfecting it. He helped bring guitar playing especially blues to the masses. Those ones you mentioned didn't do any of this. They put out stuff that isn't commercial doesn't sell or generate public interest.

@Jeff C It's not just how great one plays the guitar, in Clapton's case, it was his style that made him one of the greatest of all. The musicians you mention are very unique and skillful, but I'd rather listen to Eric play guitar.
