Sitting in the Nashville airport one afternoon. Waiting on Southwest. Decided to have a brew. I sat down and guess who was on my right. That's right. SRV. I thought this guy looks familiar. He had on a baseball cap and lots of jewelry. Finally it dawned on me whom im sitting beside. Turned out to be one of the most kindness and humblest guys ive yet to meet. He insisted on paying for everything. We actually ordered steak at the bar. I said hell no, I owe you this. His eyes welled up, he patted me on the back and said,thx for being real. That's coming from SRV. Truly a genuine man. I know,I got to eat a meal with him. A very real ,down to earth home cooked man. Miss you buddy. When we parted he said hey man thx for the conversation and meal. What a first class guy. No, executive class.

LOL. Where do you think all that music originates from? He had the natural guitar skills and voice, the music and words originated from the other side. Nothing originates here, it all flows from higher dimensions down. SRV was a gifted instrumentalist, but he was simply a portal for the rest. Which means that when you RETURN to the higher realms you will have access to all that and much more you've never heard before.

That is because you aren't supposed to use headphones. You are supposed to lay a pillow on the floor, place speakers facing towards center of pillow at approximately 18 inches from center , turn volume to 1 Db under your speakers distortion level, then lay your head on a little bit of heaven for 4 minutes and 10 seconds.

I worked on props for this video. A friend who did this kind of stuff needed a hand. SRV video, hell, yes! Stevie was a gracious guy, we chatted about amps, I strummed his famous guitar while it sat in its case in the basement, quite a thrill. His bandmates were good dudes as well, band/crew lunch up on the roof as I recall, Stevie hatless and comfortable with his baldness! Zero star trip. Incredibly sad day when he left us, rock on forever SRV!

In 1980 when my husband and I were dating we went to Charlotte NC (30 miles from us) to see a movie. We had some time to kill so we went to a local record store. A man walked past us and my man's jaw dropped. After the man left the building he stopped and whispered, "Don't you know who that was?!!?" I told him no and his eyes got huge and he had that WTF look on his face. It was none other than Stevie Ray. Shame on me.

I never seen srv, but I seen his brother Jimmy twice in a small venue, in canada. I asked J if he would mind signing my SRV Strat, his reply "I'll sign anything you want" and the guy behind me had his Bar fridge Door from his Man-Cave . 2nd time I got him to sign my tele. In that venue, it held 100 people and if you got there first, your knees were touching jimmy's mike stand, and that's like 2014 SWEET!!

Epic. Just a kick-ass blues-rock song from start to finish. This is what happens when you put a master at the controls of a guitar and let him do his thing. This is music, and it makes you wonder why others even bother to try. The solo alone is something to behold. He makes that Strat cry, sing, yell, whisper, and talk...all at once! Miss you, SRV...every day! Can't wait to see you perform again in heaven!

@@metsot One of the editors of "Guitar Player" Magazine once said it best when he said something like, "I know there are some serious players out there who will never see the light of day, who are as good or better than the "stars." He was right. There is a lot of talent and a lot of songwriters out there who will never be given a chance because of the "in crowd" gate keepers. Trust me.
@TheTenngoat3 жыл бұрын
100% accurate. However, I would say that the lack of talent/taste has been absent for LONGER than a decade. It is comical how the youth of today naturally gravitate toward the rock music of the 70's, 80's and early 90's. Why is that? Because they obviously recognize the talent in the ability to play a real freakin' instrument, the quality of the song writing and the overall artistry that has been lacking for (in my opinion) at least 20 years. Good post!!
