Saw Jeff Healy, stood right at the stage. Too say this guy was one of the best guitar players on planet earth is an understatement. It was quite obvious that he didnt have to think about what he was doing. He never had to look so it makes sense. Even the greatest players whoever you think they are watch themselves while they are playing once in awhile which means they are conscious of what they are doing. Jeff Healys guitar playing flowed just like opening a tap and walking away and letting it run. It was endless. SRV knew it.

@GeorgiaBoy19614 жыл бұрын
@ joelliotjake1: You are absolutely right about E.C. needing to be pushed to be at his best.I saw Eric 3-4 times, each time with different high-caliber musicians in his band or as guests - folks like Albert Lee and Duck Dunn - who'd get out there and kick Eric in the butt a bit, which always seemed to bring out his best playing. Jeff Healey with Eric C. - man, sorry, I missed that one! Must have been great. Did get to see him with Mark Knopfler, though.... ; ) and with Albert Lee and Ry Cooder on another.

It was pretty traumatic for him when Jimmy Hendrix cut him on stage. No one could believe it. This probably has something to do with it. Talk about a courageous person, Clapton exemplifies this. He’s open to things and as a result he’s even better now, because of his hard work and attitude. He grew as a player better than most.

Clapton is and will always be one of the best as he has a willingness to play with all of the gun players and does it without fear or favour. Not many others have done or do it like he does - he doesn’t fear them - it is just music - but he absolutely enjoys them and let’s them run as it elevates him to challenge himself. You can only do that when respect is in the house. Two almighty players pushing each other and loving it.

Dave D Actually, Stevie died in a helicopter crash following a show at Alpine Valley, Wisconsin on August 27. This was recorded on August 25, according to the title. But Stevie was indeed touring with Clapton, Buddy Guy, Robert Cray, and his brother Jimmy at this time, with whom he had just finished the concert at Alpine Valley. The concert was actually on the night of August 26, but by the time it ended, and SRV had boarded the helicopter and crashed shortly after take-off, it was 12:50 AM, making it August 27. Several of Claptons' entourage were killed in the crash as well.
@ascoop229 жыл бұрын
Dogheadj Stevie wasn't touring with Clapton or any of the others. Maybe Jimmy. They all met up at Alpine for that weekend festival only. I remember waiting for the news on that day of who actually died on the helicopter that was booked for Clapton and his keepers. I thought it was going to be Eric but wasn't relieved any when they finally said who it was. Peace.

Clapton, as usual, plays very tastefully here and doesn't feel the need to make it some kind of ridiculous contest. I respect many of the current and past blues rock players, but my ears have heard a shift to more rock than blues from these types of players over the years. Clapton, on the other hand, has often gone in the other direction and focused on phrasing, touch, and tasteful restraint instead of blazing all over the place. He often will combine both approaches into a form of mastery that I personally prefer. Much respect to both players here for sure.
