@gobbenatoren He Retired "Blackie" (His Strat that his signature model guitar is based off of) in the 1980's because if severe neck and fret wear. so he and Fender, designed the signature model strat he plays here. I had the great pleasure of playing not only the signature guitar, but ALSO the exact replica of the "blackie" strat. both of which, play like a dream.

E looks like he's so tired of playing this one. However, Mark be boppin around makes it all worth it. Good schtuff lads.
@mvflaimfurnituremaker25686 жыл бұрын
That's probably because Clapton was drunk. He drank a lot in the 80's before his son died. If you look closely in eyes, he appears to be drunk. You can see the same thing when SRV played.
@valdassteponaitis61334 жыл бұрын
@@mvflaimfurnituremaker2568 Yeah, I think it's true. I dont think he's tired, he's just a little bit drunk :D However, it's '25th Anniversary', so there are no reason to stay sober :D

@javier colero - it's not a flanger, it's a chorus pedal. You know, one of the first big guitar FX of the 80's made into a stompbox. And, it's no mystery that Clapton was a fan of them (they're all over his music from this period, this recording included). People may not like the sound but when they hear the TONE, they know it's CLAPTON.

I prefer the 89 version. Knopfler does the first solo and Clapton the second. Listen to the Twelfth night and you'll find it.
@DodsonJJ2415 жыл бұрын
Yeah true but this will happen. There have been a few times where Knopfler has asked Clapton to just play a simple rythem. Sultan's of swing and money for nothing I think. But you make a good point.

@Berlusfan Not true. Mark got his first guitar at the age of 15, it was an electric. The guitar was a red Hofner strat copy and he learned his chops on it. Mark couldnt afford an amp after his dad bought him the strat so he continued playing with it while resting his head on the electric guitar so he could hear it. Later he would borrow friends acoustic guitar's and play in folk joints.

the Backup singers are Tessa Niles (blond) and Katie Kisson (who can sing as well as Tina Turner - I heard her do 'Tearin Us Apart' with Clapton at one concert, and it sounded like a very bluesy Tina - awesome) - these gals have been around as long as Betty White and I swear one day Clapton will do a live concert, and will wheel these gals in wheelchairs in from the Seniors' Home!
