Clapton playing the melody to Blue Moon during a guitar solo for the song Sunshine of Your Love. That's crazy yet bad ass.
@thepad41978 жыл бұрын
mr. greer, you are absolutely correct, recognized the melody in 8 notes. who'd ever have thunk, funnily had that tit l e at a gig of ex's band sensible shoes, just a local group of highly trained musicians and engineers in audio. thanx, for pointing that out quite frankly don't recall hearing it before now and EARS are TRAINED on msser. ERIC CLAPTON'S FREQUENCY, EXCLUSIVELY. OK, UNDERSTOOD what you want me to do NOT MOI want BUT VOUS NEEDS to want as MOMMA says YOUR WANT TO HAS TO WANT TO, GOTTTIT, good then GETTTIT. SLDC is that what vous wants then say so and I'll follow the instructions ok sldc ERIC is still

Mr Russell Greer I could not agree more. I believe the word is "sic": that was sic. (sick?) not getting into semantics. to me that was a creative way to bring back an oldie. smooth. who does that? I'm starting to appreciate his genius.

This is one of my favorite cold starts to any concert. Talent walks on ahead of rest of the band… holding two things: a cup of water(?) and his work axe… puts down the cup and grabs a random pick, throws on the guitar, plays about 12 notes and a chord to see if Blackie is in tune… then goes into legendary riff by himself while everyone is still getting setup and seated. By the third or fourth bar when they’re all in, it’s already a well oiled machine. No hanging about… and excites the crowd by himself in four power chords. Beaut!
@the.velmaran.empire11 жыл бұрын
That's what I love about Clapton playing live, it's just one massive jam session for them :D
@paulharris855110 жыл бұрын
He's got that sustain and note-bending stuff down to an exact science. One of his best solos, I'd say. Great band too.

The tone he gets out of his strat is great. Clapton and Hendrix can/could always bring the best out of those guitars.

Jimi yes. Eric no. Put Eric on a proper Gibson (for Cream tunes), then we can see.
@chriscampbell9191 Жыл бұрын
@@paulster56 Hate to say it, out of respect for Mr. Clapton, but I agree here. Jimi Hendrix, Robin Trower, Richie Blackmore got great tones out of their Strats -- in my opinion anyway. Clapton got some good Strat tones early on with Brownie (on the first solo record), but compared to the commanding tones he got on his Gibsons, his Strat tones are kind of sterile. I still listen to him, though, for the notes. The tones don't really knock me over, but the playing is still great.
@stratolestele7611 Жыл бұрын
@@chriscampbell9191 it just puzzles me. It's as though he has a mental aversion (heroin days maybe?) to playing Cream tunes on a 335, LP, or SG. As I've said elsewhere, when they did the reunion show, "Sunshine of..." came out sounding like "Cocaine" on his Strat, not to mention that they played so fast. No heaviness in it whatsoever. And THAT was THE heaviest tune of the day back then.
@GuitaristDog87 Жыл бұрын
His '70s/80s music post-Derek & the Dominos with Strats I admit was a bit hit or miss (although I personally love a lot of it). I think he reclaimed a lot of his old fire from the Cream days when Fender started making him his own sig. Strats with the mid-boost and Lace Sensors. Listen to 24 Nights and Five Long Years👍

Awesome playing from Eric here, at the very peak of his abilities. Supremely confident, he nonchalantly strolls onto the stage and delivers a phenomenal performance of his usual intense but cool blues-rock, while inspiring a similar level of playing from his most excellent band. The best improvising musician ever, and a world class vocalist and songwriter to boot.
