日本からコメントさせていただきます。私は今53歳ですが、今でもエリック・ジョンソンさんの大ファンです。十年以上前だったと思いますが、愛知県名古屋市のブルーノートに来日公演していただいた時に、アコースティックギターのライブを二日連続で観に行きました。サインと握手もしていただきました。その時の記憶は今でも鮮明に残っています。エリック・ジョンソンさんはとても優しい感じの人でした。良い思い出をいただきました。本当にありがとうございました。

Eric.... you have unlocked the mystery of God's blueprint for you on earth. I don't know anyone else that can say that outside of the peacemakers and teachers of his will. You are a beautiful artist. Please know that you have brought light, love and inspiration to your fellow man. Some of us know you by the language that can only be spoken when your soul spills and floods the atmosphere that the spirit longs for what you give. There will never be another Eric Johnson, so thank you God for this taste of how good life can be when humans use their gifts to promote the love that disinfects the darkness and pain that life often brings. I know that fame and money is meaningless to you .... you are "where kings keep dreamin" , we know you Eric - this is what makes you wealthy.

each guitar tone of EJ's is always perfect. I feel like most great guitarists nail ONE really good tone yet EJ nails the clean, distorted AND the fuzz. Every time I hear his fuzz I think, "I'm gonna get a fuzz pedal, too!" then I play a fuzz and instantly hate myself. LOL I can never seem to dial one of those things in!

You're right. If I'm not mistaken, this is actually the original version that never was published. There's one version on KZbin but unfortunately Eric never put this beautiful version with the lyrics on any album. So we just have the awesome instrumental Venus Reprise. It's so beautiful. IMO, once I've heard lyrics, the song just got better. Eric is such an emotional musician.

Great performance and recording. I'm wondering what guitar this is that he was using on this part of that tour. I don't think he had the new Custom Shop Virginia yet (hard to tell but can't see the aged black-stained knobs or flamed neck as tell-tale signs), but this has a string tree so I doubt it's a standard EJ signature model. Maybe it was an ash Virginia prototype? Or just another Custom Shop strat? Or one of the 56 reissues he likes? Anyone know?
