I loved how dangerous Eric was. Without him the Flyers were a bit better than mediocre. With him they were a threat to win every night. If the Flyers had more depth like Lemieux's Penguins or Gretzky's Oilers, the Flyers could have absolutely ruled the 90s.

Lindros is fully aware that because of all the concussions he suffered during his NHL career he is at a very high risk of CTE dementia in the future. With that in mind, he has both contributed and helped to raise millions of dollars for concussion research at the University of Western Ontario Schulich and the Robarts Research Institute

Peter Forsberg NHL PPG 1994-2011 1.250 QUE/COL 1994-2004 PPG 1.278 Eric Lindros 1992-2007 NHL PPG 1.138 PHI 1992-2000 PPG 1.356 PHI/NYR PPG 1992-2002 1.312 Bobby Clarke PHI 1969-1984 PPG 1.058 1971-1980 PPG 1.190 While Bobby Clarke is considered the best player ever to don the orange and black jersey and in his nine year prime, he was arguably the best player in hockey second only to the great Bobby Orr in the 1970's. Fast forward to the 1990's and in the 8-year period from 1992 to 2000, Lindros despite the injuries and concussions, was obviously a better player if you want to consider the PPG average. Yes Lindros didn't have a decent goaltender, and the defense was shaky at best, but as a player, LIndros was just a better player during his prime than even Forsberg despite Forsberg winning two Stanley Cups and Forsberg having more success in the international competitions than Lindros, which is another topic. In the NHL Lindros according to the PPG especially during his prime years in PHI had 1.356 PPG and even with the NYR still was able to maintain his PPG to 1.312. It was later in his career when the PPG average shifted downward and even then he still maintains an overall NHL PPG average of 1.138. While it's not higher than Forsberg's average, it's still higher than Clarke's, who had more help with Bernie Parent in the net, and the most feared goon squad during their time (Schultz, Kelly, Crisp, and Dupont). Also, Lindros had more hat tricks with the Flyers (11 with PHI and 13 career) than Clarke's entire career (5). All I'm saying is that had Lindros been mostly healthy and had Lindros had a better goaltender and even enforcers, I'm pretty sure he would've had a much higher PPG average. As of this writing, only Gretzky, Lemieux, Bossy, Orr had higher PPG average than Lindros and even the new kid from EDM, McDavid. Once again, Clarke may be considered the best player on the Flyers, but during his time on the ice, Lindros was better in his eight years with PHI than Clarke was during his prime from 1971-1980 and especially in his career!!! And he had more hat tricks in his career (11 with the Flyers and 13 total) over Clarke (5) and in the 1994-95 season, had Lindros had 1 more point, he would've been the first Flyer to win the Art Ross Trophy, but Jagr beat him by most goals scored.

Top 5 player EVER. Want proof? PPG. Spent alot of time in the box. As many points as Pavel Bure. Played in the clutch and grab era...plus the DEVILS style defense era. Played in the oversized goalie pads era. Was known since he was 12 years old...lots of pressure to make it. His size and style of play was the reason for his concussions. On skates he is 6'7"...so his chin and head was always the point of contact on hits...given or taken. Hands, speed, strength. He fought goons...instead of having a goon fight for him. Mcsorley, Probert, Stevens and Twist have all said there was no one stronger when fighting. Eric would ragdoll muthafuckers instead of hurting his hands on someone's helmet. He was a target every game. Bobby Clarke was the GM that caused most of the BS people think of...not Eric's parents. And what parent wouldn't want the best for their son? The 1997 FLYERS were great. But the 97 redwings had like 4 HOFers plus a HOF coach and 12 total current and future perennial all stars on the squad. If the LINDROS FLYERS had 86-90 HEXTALL...they would of won 1 or 2 cups. Dude is a beast. Nothing like him before him...when he played...and since he retired. Suck my dick if you dont like my facts!!!...lolololol

Ironically, the largest goalie pads were on his own teammate. Garth Snow. He was definitely a great player. No doubt about it. It’s a shame that he suffered so many concussions. I believe Rod Brind’Amour was the real heart and soul of that team. They should have never traded him for Primeau.

@@cronic1866 Stevens & Lindros went at it since Eric's rookie season, I mean they really went at it. That's just how it used to be & it was awesome to watch. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely hated Stevens, but I always respected him. People only remember him for the shots on Lindros(legit, as much as I hate to admit it) & Kariya(cheap as hell), but that man could dominate the game, & even more a playoff series. He was still one hell of a defenseman, probably the most dominate I've seen inmy lifetime.
@rickysnow400

The public opinion of Lindros has become that of a victim because of the few big shots he took. In reality he was a head hunter which is dirty and unnecessary in my opinion. He was wildly skilled but couldn’t figure out how to peak across at the weak side d-man before cutting to the middle.

@HOCKEY HELL YA to say Stevens is dirty and Lindros isnt is a bit ridiculous. They had similar games within their respective positions. Stevens was obviously able to really crush guys from the weak side and Lindros never had those opportunities to hit people like that but I'm sure Lindros would have hit guys the exact same way that Stevens did if he was a defenseman.
