It's a testament to the power of harmony, honestly. The melody is just 7 notes long, comprised of 3 distinct tones played highest to lowest, and then repeated over and over and over again. But the changing chords in the baseline changes the quality of the melody, creating an aural illusion of a changing melody even though it's still the same 3 tones over and over. The harmonization makes it work when such a simple melody would, in any other circumstance, barely be considered a melody

There are also other legends, such as Deadmau5 and Calvin Harris (as much as I hate his mainstream appeal he really knows how to build a hook). I will never forget my first night in a disco, a little drunk, after my degrees in 2008, and this song came up. The slow build ups, the lights and smoke in the club, the people dancing, the melody, a little flirt with a girl.. All those things combined made it feel like the time stood still. There was absolutely nothing to worry about, everything was in the right place and the right time.. I tried many times, but i could never repeat that feeling. Must've been one of the best moments in my entire life.
