Part of the reason "real" artists like him, Anthony David, Anthony Hamilton, Phonte, Zo, etc don't get mainstream media attention is not because their music isn't relatable to all types of people (not that it has to be). It's because the message is usually one that isn't racially-compromising for Black people, particularly Black men. It's a message that shows Black men being vulnerable, loving, and compassionate... i.e.: real men, as opposed to the ultra-, fake-masculinity of rap and other music. THAT's the difference. The predominantly white media do not care about civilized images of Black men because it dispels the phony narratives about us that they created.
